‘MPW currently implementing over 27 construction projects’
MoI tops list of beneficiaries with 9 projects: Eman
KUWAIT CITY, June 13: Director of Planning Department at the Ministry of Public Works, Eman Al-Omar, said the Ministry is currently implementing more than 27 construction projects to realize the vision of creating sustainable urban renaissance, reports AlQabas daily.
She added the ministry also oversees the implementation of many projects included in the state’s master plan and the development plan, with the aim of developing the infrastructure of sewage networks, drainage of rainwater, sewage treatment plants, maintenance of government buildings and the road network.
She pointed out the number of government construction projects in various stages is 53, pointing out the Ministry of Interior tops the list of beneficiaries with 9 projects, including 3 projects under implementation, such as the DirectorateGeneral of Criminal Investigation and the Directorate-General of Criminal Evidences and the security facilities.
She disclosed the project being floated and awarded for the Interior Ministry is the General Administration for Finance and Administration, and five projects that are in the design stages. These are the back side of the Coordination Directorate buildings, the Department of Reform Institutions, the General Administration of Investigations, the Department of Information Systems and the Public Remand Building.
Projects
Al-Omar indicated that the Ministry of Justice comes second among the beneficiaries, with 7 projects, of which 3 are currently under construction. These are the multipurpose car park building for the Kuwait Institute for Judicial Studies, the Directorate of Experts in Al-Rigae and the Hawalli Courts Complex.
The ministry has a single project under construction, the family court building in the capital and another one at the design stage, the family court building in Jahra, and the third pre-design is the parking lot of the family court in the capital and a future project is the juvenile court in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.
The Council of Ministers has 5 projects two of which are under implementation. The Mubarak Al Kabir Governorate building and the National Security Establishment building, in addition to 3 projects which are at design stage. They are the Office of the Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs and the permanent headquarters of the Central Tenders Committee in the Capital Governorate.
As regards the health sector, AlOmar said that the ministry has carried out many projects, the most important of which is the Jaber Hospital, which is the largest medical center in the country with a capacity of 1,168 beds and one of the largest development projects in the country.
The health sector has 3 projects currently — the 780-bed new maternity hospital, the Kuwait Institute of Medical Specialties premises in the Al-Sabah area and a new design project for the new 792-bed pediatric hospital.
She pointed out the Ministry of Social Affairs has 3 projects, two of which are currently underway — the Jahra Juvenile Care Complex project and the Central Market Building in Granada, in addition to a project at the design stages , which is Fintas District Center.
The education sector, represented by the Ministry of Education, has two projects. The first is the headquarters of the Ministry’s General Directorate in South Surrah, which the Ministry is about to complete, in addition to the Special Education Schools Complex for special needs in Jahra, Egaila, and
Hawalli.
This is in addition to the construction carried out by the Ministry of Finance, the Department of Transfer of Ownership and BOT, as well as truck parking in Al-Jahra Governorate. The ministry also implements a project for the Public Authority for Civil Information which is the Authority’s building in Ahmadi.
The Public Authority for the Care
of the Holy Quran has two projects in the design stage; the building of the authority and the printing press building. The Ministry of State for services has two projects — the first stage of design is the Safat Post Office, and the second to be executed this year is the smart parking lots for Safat Post Office.
The National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters has two projects: the first is the Farwaniya cultural
center which is in the design phase, the other is the Mubarak AlKabir Cultural Center building.
The Ministry of Information has a future project. It is a new headquarters for the ministry. The ministry is also implementing a huge project for the Ministry of Awqaf building in Al-Rigae and another project for the Public Authority for Minors Affairs in Ardhiya which is in design stage.
