KUWAIT CITY, June 13: Ambassador of Ukraine to Kuwait H.E. Vladimir Tulkash congratulates His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, expressing his sincere wishes to the leadership and people of Kuwait for the prosperity and progress of Kuwait and the Arab Islamic world, reports Al-Rai daily.

He said, “Ramadan is a time for us to turn our attention to the purity of our souls and the purity of ourselves towards others”.

Ambassador Tulkash explained that his work at the embassy during Ramadan is no different from the rest of the year, but what he really likes about this month is that the roads are almost empty most of the day, allowing him to reach anywhere in the city without delay. He tries not to drive on the roads just before sunset in order to avoid the rush hour when everyone is hurrying to make sure they catch up with Iftar on time.

He went on to explain that he really enjoy the family traditions in Kuwait especially with children celebrating the launch of Iftar canon for announcing the breaking of fast at sunset. He also likes the Ghabqa tradition that gives a pleasant touch to the nights of this holy month.

The ambassador said, “Kuwait is a country where it is difficult for a person to lose weight, even during Ramadan despite long hours of fasting. The difficult challenge that is not easy to overcome is beauty and diversity of foods in Kuwait. Therefore, the best way to lose extra weight during Ramadan or any time of the year is exercise. We must move and walk as much as possible”.

He revealed that Ramadan for Muslims in Ukraine is not only a period of fasting but also of reading the Quran especially during the night when people gather after work and recite Quran verses in Arabic, adding that those who do not understand Arabic read it in its Ukrainian translation.

Ambassador Tulkash recalled the Imam Al Sadiq Mosque blast that took place during the Ramadan of 2015. He said, “I will not forget that incident which violated the spirit of Ramadan”, adding that he at the same time was touched by the large number of people who rushed to the Blood Bank to donate blood for the victims of the heinous attack.
