‘Oil production to range from 70,000 to 80,000 bpd’

KUWAIT CITY, June 18: Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water Bakheet Al-Rasheedi revealed that Ministry of Electricity and Water has prepared a plan for ensuring water security by implementing strategic projects that depend on advanced technology, reports Al-Anba daily.

Al-Rasheedi explained to the daily that the projects for enhancing water production are in line with the international criteria and takes into consideration the need to preserve the environment without incurring high costs. Among the projects is one for increasing water storage in Kuwait through the execution of relevant projects.

He stressed the keenness of the ministry to meet the water needs of new huge projects, adding that Kuwait has achieved 100 percent on the quality of the water produced in the country in the index of World Health Organization (WHO) last year.

Meanwhile, In case a final agreement is reached between OPEC and other oil producers to increase oil production, Kuwait’s new oil production is expected to range from 70,000 to 80,000 barrels per day, reports Al-Rai daily quoting informed sources.

They explained that the first scenario for increasing the oil production is expected to be gradual in accordance with the market’s demands in a way that preserves the balance between supply and demand without giving a chance to the speculators. This will increase the production rate by about 300,000 barrels per day.

The second scenario is aimed at increasing the production rate from one million to 1.5 million barrels per day. This scenario is not likely to be enforced due to the inability of countries such as Venezuela, Mexico and Libya to produce their share of the rate in accordance with such an agreement.

Meanwhile, according to agencies, the Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak revealed that Russia and Saudi Arabia will ask OPEC to increase the oil production by 1.5 million barrels per day for the third quarter of this year.
