‘Syria havoc ultimate goal’

When will Arabs learn?

-

“WHEN the conspiracies began to hurt the Arab nation after the 2006 remarks made by Condoleezza Rice (the former US advisor for National Security Affairs and former secretary of state) about the new Middle East and the so-called creative chaos, this actually destroyed the Arab nation morally, militarily and financially, and we have become enemies of ourselves and the enemies of our Arab brothers,” columnist wrote for

daily. “When the Syrian crisis began in March 2011 with limited popular demonstrations in certain areas, such as the region of Qaboon, the price that was paid for every participant in these demonstrations was between 500 and 1,000 Syrians pounds.

“However, at the time the demonstrations were peaceful, but later weapons were used by the demonstrators. Here we actually would like to take a neutral stand and wonder can any state in the world irrespective of its nature accept any manipulation whatever it is, to tamper with its security and destabilize it or cut off a piece of its land and make it an emirate, as it happened in the area of Dara’a?

“I do not think it would be one of the seventh impossibilities for the Syrian authorities to leave the security chaos to worsen. In this connection we have to ask ourselves because no country will accept any intervention in its internal affairs.

“The other question is whether the United States would accept the occupation, for example, of the White House or the killing of US military personnel without the rapid response and proper disposition of its duty — the duty of any president to protect his homeland and its people.

“Syria, and under the leadership of the legitimate president, yes ... the president elected by the Syrian people and the pre-2011 Arab presidents, the president who did not leave his country and did not flee, the beloved president of his people.

“Here we stand to salute the Syrian army and pray to Almighty Allah to bestow His mercy upon hundreds of thousands of people who have been killed for protecting the dignity of Syria and to preserve the Syrian soil.

“It is this army that fought together with all the brothers and we remember this army defending the State of Kuwait during the invasion of the country by Saddam Hussein and its stand with the Kuwaiti people and its leadership.

“In this context, I would like to cite the position of the late president Hafez Al-Assad following his meeting with the Qatari leadership in 1990 and took the stand of the man of the word and attitudes and owner of the school of Arabism to protect his brothers.

“In this connection, we say in spite of this man’s hostility to the Americans, national duty required him to take a courageous position to participate in the war to liberate Kuwait without hesitation despite the wounds of the Iran-Iraq war.

“However, suddenly the Arab attitudes changed from the position of friend and brother to bitter enemy of what they call the Syrian regime and became the daily news and system of the regime ignoring the fact that the Syrian Arab Republic has a seat in the United Nations Security Council, and is one of the founders of the United Nations and the Arab League.

“Actually, the Syrian president was not the obstacle simply because the doors of reconciliation were closed by the Arab League and Syria’s membership was withdrawn without right just because Syria was defending its legitimacy and existence.

“However, President Bashar Al-Assad since coming to power has worked hard to advance Syria to keep up with economic, architectural and political times and opened the doors for foreign investments, foreign banks, foreign imports and tourism.

“Just for information only, the late president Hafez Al-Assad had set up an emergency portfolio in anticipation of any war against Syria as predicted and worth 95 billion dollars and a reserve of gold enough for twenty years.

“There are previous media lies about the demolition of mosques in Syria, which are false rumors to stir feelings, but the Syrian people are very conscious and know the size of the plot. Do you know there are 25,000 mosques in Damascus in addition to 720 Holy Quran schools 120 of which were built by the president’s family?

“As a matter of fact, the Syrian crisis was built on false lies and illusions and ignorance is the biggest reason — ignorance in terms of realizing what was woven against Syria — the remaining great Arab power.

“When will the Arabs learn that the goal of the war in Syria is to destroy the last Arab power? The goal of the war on Syria is caused by the discovery of large gas fields and oil wells that the late president Hafez al-Assad had postponed for 40 years because he knew what would happen to his country in the event of the relevant discoveries and it actually happened.

“We hope that Almighty God to reform the situation and return the water to its course. It is time to admit the grave mistake that has been committed towards the Syrian Arab Republic to be in a single trench to fight Zionist terrorism.”

“The war of words between the United States and Iran has reached its peak to such an extent people tend to believe a war between the two nations is imminent,” columnist wrote for daily.

“Some people were expecting the war to erupt on May 12, 2018 following Washington’s withdrawal from the nuclear deal with Iran.

“But through objective and analytic view towards the dynamics of the relations between Tehran and Washington, make us believe what happens on the ground is far from a military confrontation.

“In other words, those who follow the pattern of relationship between Iran and America during the US regimes, be they Democrats or Republicans, will realize that this relationship was always rife with tension, least confidence and on the verge of catastrophe, but when the two parties come face to face, it is actually a different story altogether.

“The Iranians deal through the policy of long breath and involvement of difficult negotiations and political maneuvers, while the Americans for their part depend on pressure tactics and use the economic trump card, but the undeclared fact shows that the two don’t want to be involved in any military confrontation and this what has been implicitly realized by both the Americans and the Iranians.

“Consequently, in view of the pragmatic US policy, we believe Washington is used to take escalation with Tehran to greater heights and to the verge of war, just to get more concessions or surrenders from the Iranian side that may lead to the revision of the nuclear deal that shall keep in line with the US requirements based on responding to the Israeli interests and security in the region.”

“When the oil income in 1952 increased from £4 million to £40 million in one run, the British agent in Kuwait moved to ensure that much of that increase was invested in London, to revive the British economy and support the pound sterling,” columnist, Professor at Kuwait University’s Political Science Department, an advisor to Human Rights Watch (HRW) and the secretary general of the Arab Fund for Human Rights (AFHR) wrote for daily.

“They thought they could invest without any objection, but their hopes evaporated when they ran into a difficult negotiating style of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem. They had no answer and no authority to decide on the Sheikh’s questions and demands.

“For example, in their efforts to answer when asked in whose name these funds will be registered, the British regulations were not satisfactory because it was customary to register Kuwaiti funds in the name of the Sheikh. And therefore it was not a matter of discussion until it was raised by the Sheikh in the investment talk. They discovered that the registration on behalf of the State of Kuwait would have put them in political and diplomatic caveats.

“Kuwait was not yet an independent state and was subject to British protection, and therefore it was not possible to grant an institution belonging to a nonindependent state. In order to get out of this impasse, through dozens of correspondence letters circulated by the competent authorities, they tried to say that the protection agreement concluded in 1899 stems from the Sheikh’s ownership of the land as the official of the state.

“Since the income came from oil which was extracted from the state, the money can be considered a state property, not a personal property of the Sheikh, and they went even further by examining the nature of the ownership of palm groves in Iraq. Of course trying to insert sentences to suit the purpose was a weak, incomplete attempt, such as seeking to tailor a legal opinion that suits his wishes.

“So they came back to the Sheikh with a premature, incomplete opinion to meet his demands, which, once discovered, he was not ready, until he insisted that the issue of investment should be regulated by a contract and agreement signed by both parties, in which things were clear and unambiguous, as we shall see.

“June 19 was Kuwait’s 57th anniversary of independence. I do not understand why the day was not officially commemorated, which should have been an official holiday followed by a flag hoisting ceremony led by His Highness.

“Is the day not worthy of being a big celebration, something that reflects the anniversary of the establishment of the state? If we agree that the government is weak and does not know its priorities, what about the members of the National Assembly?

“Why did not a single deputy raise a question about why the government has neglected an occasion dear to all of us? Is not the anniversary of the occasion, which opened the door to the promulgation of the Constitution, worth celebrating?

“I do not understand the reason why a state with all the noise made about the trivialities by the deputies and the government and others decide to obliterate the memory of its independence.”

“About ten years ago, the Al-Azhar University issued a decree obliging students to pass the TOEFL test and obtain a high grade before joining the university. This decision was met with a great protest by the students under the pretext they are studying forensic science,” columnist, Dean of Technological Studies College at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) and the Deputy Chairman of the Islamic Heritage Revival Society (IHRS) wrote for daily.

“However, that decision passed and the benefit was clear. Today we are surprised at the dismay of 20 MPs who have protested the decision of the Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education to oblige students opting to join foreign universities to pass the IELTS exam and their suspicious move to stop that decision despite the clear link between the students studying abroad and the exam.

“If I were in the minister’s place, I would say to these protesting MPs, ‘Your job is the most important position in the country, legislation and monitoring and not interference in the administrative decisions taken by the competent minister in the field of his work’.

“Unfortunately, our deputies, who have neglected their legislative and supervisory duties and focused on these strange tendencies, have become concerned about the (muddle) of the ministers at the core of their competencies.

“These MPs have crossed their limits and therefore we note the extent of deterioration in the performance of the National Assembly. Quite a few of our deputies have become interested in pleasing voters by any means possible at the expense of the issues of the nation.

“These MPs have threatened to grill the Minister of Education if he does not back down from his decision on the IELTS. We salute the Minister’s courage and challenge to these MPs and ask the government to stand with him.

“The parliamentary recess of the Parliament is approaching and we will see the MPs on a world tour. We urge the government to increase the perks of the deputies and to extend their travel so that the country can relax and get rid of their interference in the affairs of the country.”
