NEW YORK, June 21, (RTRS): New York Knicks center Kyle O’Quinn has declined his $4.2 million player option for the 2018-19 season and will become an unrestricted free agent, according to a report from ESPN on Wednesday night.

O’Quinn, 28, is coming off a career year, his sixth in the NBA and third with the Knicks. The 2012 secondround pick by the Orlando Magic averaged 7.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 77 games (10 starts).

O’Quinn has career averages of 5.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game.

Knicks starting center Enes Kanter has an $18.6 million player option for next season that he’s yet to make a decision on, though he told reporters in April that he’s leaning toward opting out in search of a long-term deal, either with the Knicks or elsewhere.

Teams can begin negotiating with unrestricted free agents beginning July 1.

Cleveland Cavaliers Kevin Love

The aren’t offering in any trade offers and intend to have him on the roster next season regardless of any decision may make, ESPN reported Wednesday.

Love has two seasons remaining on his deal with the Cavaliers and is owed just more than $49.7 million. The second year is a player option. Speculation has been rampant that Cleveland would look to deal Love if James leaves as a free agent.

Speaking on ESPN’s “Golic and Wingo,” Silver was asked about the state of the league and the assertion by many that it lacks parity, as reflected by the Warriors’ dominance and the same NBA Finals matchup happening four years in a row.

The forecasts seemingly all project to develop into an NBA star, but the 7-foot-1 center who could go No. 1 overall in Thursday’s draft said he defines NBA success as not having his rookie contract be his last.

Dettori, who won his first Gold Cup with Drum Taps back in 1992, had to work hard for the win, battling back after French raider Vazirabad had briefly headed him inside the final furlong (200 metres).

Dettori, who rode a treble for Gosden on Tuesday before they both drew a blank on Wednesday, would not be drawn on whether he preferred receiving the trophy from Prince Harry’s wife Meghan on Tuesday or Queen Elizabeth II after the Gold Cup.

Dettori, who joked that the saddlecloth with 60 on it he received from the Queen was dusty after lying unused all Wednesday, said the rumours about retirement, which circulated around the time of the Epsom Derby earlier this month, were wide of the mark.

Wesley Ward has been blazing a trail for international runners for a while now, and the American recorded his 10th career win at the meeting in a thrilling finale to the Group Two Norfolk Stakes for two-year-olds.

Joel Rosario managed to just hold on by a neck on Shang Shang Shang — Ward’s seventh two-year-old winner from his 10 victors at the meeting — as 20/1 outsider Pocket Dynamo powered home under Mickael Barzalona.

Ward — who had seen a couple of fancied runners including the twotime Ascot winner Lady Aurelia fail to sparkle — held up his 10 digits to register his landmark.

“There is nothing like winning at Royal Ascot, beamed Ward.

The big disappointment was the favourite Vintage Brut, who cost Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, the Thai owner of Leicester City, #280,000 on Monday at the Goffs sales in London — one of several purchases as he spent big just as he had done the previous year and with similarly poor results.

A race later, not even the combined super talents of Dettori and Gosden could conjure up a decent run for Srivaddhanaprabha’s Main Street in the Group Three Hampton Court Stakes.

Gallant and McPhee shaped the Golden Knights into one of the most successful North American sports expansion teams in history. They finished with 51 wins and 109 points to win their division and reach the Stanley Cup final where they lost to McPhee’s former team the Washington Capitals.

Barzal had a superb first season with the Islanders and was a near unanimous pick for top rookie. He easily beat out Vancouver Canucks Brock Boeser and Clayton Keller of the Arizona Coyotes. The 21-year-old Canadian Barzal is the first rookie to record three five point games since Montreal’s Joe Malone in 1917-18 season.

“It’s something you think about. It’s the Calder. You’re a rookie. It just kind of goes together,” Barzal said. “It’s not the Ted Lindsay or the Hart. Those are the big boy awards ... hopefully one day I could be back.”

The most emotional moment of the

evening was a special tribute to the Humboldt Broncos junior team and included 10 of the 13 players who survived the April 6 fatal bus crash taking the stage at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

It was the first time they had been together since their team bus collided with a semi truck on a rural Canadian road, leaving 16 people dead.

Coach Darcy Haugan, who died in the crash, was awarded the Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award.
