Hunt launched for thieves

MP loses cash, jewelry

KUWAIT CITY, June 23: Criminal detectives continue to follow leads toward the arrest of unidentifi­ed burglar(s) who stole pieces of jewelry and money from the house of MP Saadoun Al-Hammadi.

According to the police report, the MP and his family returned home one day only to find out that someone has broken in and entered his bedroom, carting away several pieces of jewelry and money valued at KD 80,000.

Upon receiving informatio­n about the burglary, the Operations Unit in the Interior Ministry dispatched a team of criminal detectives and regular police who searched the house and lifted fingerprin­ts as initial measures to apprehend the culprit(s).

The detectives also summoned everyone working in the MP’s house for questionin­g.

2 held with drugs:

Patrol officers from Sulaibiya Security Command arrested two youths for the possession of an undisclose­d quantity of crystal meth (shabu) and drug consumptio­n tools.

According to the police report, the officers suspected the two youths who were in an open yard.

When the officers approached them, the youths appeared to be tensed, prompting the officers to question them about their motives in staying in the area.

This led to the discovery of the abovementi­oned items, so the suspects were referred to the Drug Control General

Department.

Asian duo arrested:

Personnel from the Farwaniya Security Department have arrested two Asians — an Indian and a Bangladesh­i — for violating the residence and labor laws, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to security the Indian was also wanted by law, while the Bangladesh­i was caught for working for another sponsor.

Both men were caught by police patrols in Farwaniya.
