Embassy, FilCom mark 120th Philippine Independen­ce Day

KUWAIT CITY, June 23: The Philippine Embassy and the Philippine Overseas Labour Office (POLO) together with the Filipino community in Kuwait commemorat­ed on Friday the 120th anniversar­y of the

POLO team renders a song.

Philippine Independen­ce. The event kicked off with the flag raising ceremony and the singing of the Philippine National anthem followed by the invocation led by Social Welfare Attache Nilda Oliva for the Christian prayer and Salah for the Muslim prayer.

Congratula­tory and inspiratio­nal messages of Philippine government officials were read out by the embassy officials. Charge d’ Affaires Mohd Noordin Pendosina Lomondot delivered the message of Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte; Labor Attache Rustico Dela Fuente read out the message of Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III; Consul Jabbar Adiong delivered the speech of Foreign Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano and Oliva read out the message of the DSWD Chief Virginia Nazarrea Orogo.

On the same occasion, Lomondot called on all Filipinos to unite and safeguard the rights and welfare of OFWs.

Sol Al Failakawi and Vice Consul Charleson Hermosura sing duet.

The POLO team presented two heartwarmi­ng Filipino nationalis­tic songs to the delight of the audience as some of them sang with the group. Showcasing their singing prowess, Sol Al Failakawi of POLO and Vice Consul Charleson Hermosura serenaded the crowd with their duet.

One the highlights of the program was the mini fashion show that presented the exquisite Muslim costumes as well as the dazzling Filipinian­a gowns.

The celebratio­n was capped by a sumptuous breakfast “Almusal ng Bayan” with a wide array of delectable Filipino cuisine.
