‘Total number of projects listed in 2017/18 dev plan reaches 149’
Ongoing projects from previous plans include 120 and 29 new ones
KUWAIT CITY, June 25, (KUNA): SecretaryGeneral of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development Dr Khalid Mahdi has disclosed that the total number of projects listed in the 2017/2018 developmental plan has reached 149 including 120 of the ongoing projects from previous plans and 29 new projects.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday to announce the results of the follow-up of the 2017/2018 development plan, Dr Mahdi indicated that the expenditure on these projects increased to 86 percent.
He explained that the 2017/2018 development plan witnessed a decrease in the number of projects compared to the previous two years with high rate of expenditure on projects. The number of projects decreased from 529 in 2015/2016 to 279 in 2016/2017 and to 149 projects in 2017/2018.
Regarding the status of execution of the projects in the annual 2017/2018 development plan, the number of completed projects reached eight (about five percent, while the number of projects in the handover phase was three (two percent).
The number of projects in the operational phase was 84 (56 percent), and 47 (32 percent) in the preparatory phase. The number of projects that have not yet been started was seven (five percent).
In terms of the challenges facing the implementation of the projects, Dr Mahdi said that they reached 519, including 178 administrative challenges, 139 financial challenges, 113 technical obstacles, 78 challenges in regulatory bodies and 11 challenges over legislative reasons.
Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of Kuwait Credit Bank Salah Al-Mudaf disclosed that the bank has managed to reduce the number of expatriate employees of the bank in the recent years from 18 percent to 4 percent, affirming that complete Kuwaitization will be accomplished soon, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Al-Mudaf stressed the keenness of the bank to support national labor and implement the Kuwaitization policy adopted by the Cabinet and Decision No. 11/2017 of the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
