Kuwaiti PM ‘guest of honor’ at forum
HH the PM Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak arrives in Berlin for a major economic forum. His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah has arrived in the German capital Berlin to take part in the “German-Arab Business Forum” as a guest of honor. The Kuwaiti prime minister, along with a delegation accompanying him, was seen off at the airport by senior state officials on Monday.
The Kuwaiti delegation to one of the world’s most prominent business gatherings includes Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled AlRoudhan and Health Minister Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah, amongst other top officials.
The German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GACIC) expressed contentment over having Kuwait’s Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak AlHamad Al-Sabah as a guest of honor at the 2018 Arab Economic Forum.
GACIC Secretary General Abdulaziz Al-Mekhlafi, in a statement to KUNA on Sunday, expressed satisfaction over having His Highness the Premier as a guest.
He noted that cooperation between both Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and GACIC is going perfectly well, and there is an interchangeable economic-political relationship between Kuwait and Germany. Kuwait is considered one of first investors in Germany, with an estimated volume of around $35 billion.
Furthermore, Al-Mekhlafi expressed his appreciation for the Kuwaiti role to encourage dialogue and peaceful methods to solve conflicts, stressing that Kuwait contributions has an international resonance that is a source of pride for Arab nations.
According to GACIC, the 2017 trade volume between Arab countries and Germany was around $55 billion, an increment of about 33.9 percent than 2016.
Arab investments in Germany have also expanded recently to reach around $116 billion.
The three-day Forum will involve more than 600 businesspeople and experts, as well as discussion sessions for direct investments and knowledge exchange, supporting the manufacturing plans, management of digital transformation and major enterprise infrastructures.
Other issues on the agenda include food industry, cooperation on agriculture and sustainable food security. There will also be a workshop themed Kuwait: Sustainable growth and development. (KUNA)
