KUWAIT CITY, June 24: Ministry of Interior requested the tenth renewal of the electronic payment services contract, which the General Department for Financial Affairs (Revenues Department) signed with the Joint Automated Banking Services Company (K-Net) for another year starting from May 8, 2018 at a sum of KD 1 million, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Central Tenders Committee (CTC) has approved the Interior Ministry’s request based on the same conditions and prices. It also approved a request made by the Ministry of Justice to renew the minor contract number 1-2009/2010 on electronic payment services with K-Net for the tenth time. The contract will last for three years starting from May 7, 2018 until May 7, 2021 at an undisclosed sum, in addition to renewal of the major contract signed between the Ministry of Finance and the company.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Health has requested an amendment to the duration and value of the seventh renewal of the direct order contract for electronic payment services sealed between the ministry and K-Net.

The renewal will cover three years starting from May 8, 2018 at a total cost of KD 3 million. The contract is essential considering the steady growth in electronic payment system at the health insurance centers, hospitals and health centers.

Meanwhile, minister of Public Works and State Minister for Municipality Affairs Eng Hussam Al-Rumi has dismissed parliamentary interference in the reshuffling process, reports Al-Rai daily quoting a reliable source from Kuwait Municipality.

The source disclosed a number of officials in the Municipality will be reshuffled next month, indicating the minister promised employees he met earlier that he will take legal and administrative measures against any senior official who discriminates between employees.

The source said Al-Rumi verbally criticized a senior official at the Municipality for reshuffling employees without waiting for a directive from the ministry in this regard and issuing the decision under the name of the minister.

The source added that Al-Rumi has given instruction to form a committee that will investigate the issue, especially after the employees covered by the reshuffling decision expressed objection as they were transferred to other locations without any valid reason.
