KUWAIT CITY, June 25: A vehicle burst into flames after colliding with another vehicle on Fifth Ring Road, killing an Egyptian woman and her two children, and severely injuring her driver.

According to security sources, the motorist of the other vehicle is a Kuwaiti citizen, and he was responsible for the accident. After confirming that his mental state is normal, they referred him to the police station of the area.

Meanwhile, the corpses of the deceased woman and her two children were referred to the Forensics Department and the injured victim was taken to Jahra Hospital by paramedics for treatment.

Firefighters extinguished the fire after which securitymen launched investigations to determine the cause of the accident.

13,000 nabbed:

Officers from the Criminal Investigation General Department in the Interior Ministry have arrested about 13,000 people involved in 8,000 cases since the beginning of 2018 till date, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting knowledgeable sources.

Sources revealed criminal sentences were imposed on 130 suspects; while 125 suspects were charged with armed burglary and theft which have become prevalent especially in areas where bachelors are residing.

Sources said 70 people of various nationalities were charged with murder and 65 were charged with attempted murder, affirming all suspects in murder cases have been arrested.

Sources disclosed 50 individuals were arrested for involvement in 60 public fund embezzlement cases, indicating 20 were arrested for impersonating securitymen, fraud and swindling. A Kuwaiti family in a car stranded by rising tide at Al-Khowaisat shore was rescued by officers from Marine Rescue Department affiliated to the General Fire Service Department, reports Al-Anba daily. Patrolmen and firefighters went to the family’s rescue when the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received information regarding the near-sunken car at AlKhowaisat sea area. A case was registered at Jahra Police Station.

Sources added theft cases topped the list of crimes – looting vehicles, houses and commercial shops.

Sources went on to say the ministry has intensified efforts to prevent crimes, especially thefts in residential areas. Sources said the ministry has adopted a comprehensive plan to dispatch security patrols and heighten security in coordination with all concerned security sectors.

Sources added the number of cases referred to the Criminal Court doubled over the last year, including murder, theft, threat, brawls for various reasons, assault and suicide.

Cheat beggar:

Police have identified the female beggar who is said to have cheated many people by faking disability, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, the woman who speaks in a Gulf dialect, claimed to be an amputee and allegedly knocked on

the door of a house in Jaber Al-Ali.

When a Kuwaiti opened the door, she claimed one of her legs has been amputated and the other is in bad condition. The man felt pity for her and gave her KD 190 after she said she would travel to Egypt for a surgery.

After some time, the Kuwaiti realized that he had been ‘looted’ by the woman after he heard different stories from different people who described the woman.

Surprisingly, she surfaced in Bayan and entered a Diwaniya of a Kuwaiti and the latter who had heard about her story, discovered both her legs were intact. She had apparently used a 3D technique to make a picture of herself and on the strength of this picture she was apparently ‘earning’ money.

The woman then escaped from the scene before the arrival of police. Police investigations show she is from one of the GCC countries.
