KUWAIT CITY, July 15: Kuwait Fishermen Society reminded Ministry of Commerce and Industry to fulfill its promise concerning moving the location of imported fish auction to its new location in AlRai area, which was supposed to be fulfilled in March 2018, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The society stressed that the Fish Market in Sharq is specified for auctions of local fish.

It indicated that it does not mind the sale of imported fish alongside the local fish sale, but the issue is that the market experiences huge congestions as well as obstacles in the maintenance of the market by the National Fish Company.

Kuwait Fishermen Society revealed that it daily carries out its task of supplying the fish market with fresh Kuwaiti fish despite the difficulties it faces.

It highlighted about some beneficiaries who insist on bringing imported fish to Sharq Market, which not only leads to a huge congestion but creates unbearably bad odor.

The society denied the fake allegations directed against it in TV channels and websites, affirming about the ongoing communication with relevant bodies for expediting the transfer of imported fish auctions to Al-Rai area.

It insisted that the Sharq Market is allocated specifically for selling local fish according to the founding decision of Sharq Market.

Meanwhile, Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water Eng Bakheet Al-Rasheedi says Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) is intending to activate electronic methods for carrying out all of the ministry’s transactions early next year, reports AlAnba daily.

During the inauguration of a consumer service center in Farwaniya area, he indicated that there will not be any need for reading meters in the old manner, as all readings will be done electronically early next year, adding that the first step will include 300,000 meter units.

Eng Al-Rasheedi explained that the inauguration of the consumer service center comes in tandem with the ministry’s plan to modernize the buildings affiliated to the ministry. There are two tenders for installation of smart meters in all areas of Kuwait.

He revealed that the ministry is not only working on activating electronic services for carrying out transactions but is also doing the same for bill payments through smartphone applications whereby consumers will not be required to go in person to conduct transactions except for specific cases.
