AAEC chief stresses ‘strengthen­ing’ security ties between Kuwait & China

Bid to help change face of the region

KUWAIT CITY, July 15: Head of African-Asian Economic Council Tariq bin Eid Al-Obaid stressed the importance of enhancing the political, economic and security relations between Kuwait and China for improving the stability of the region due to the outstandin­g global political and economic places held by China, reports Al-Nahar daily.

Al-Obaid described the visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to China as a “historic visit” that can push forward the Gulf-Chinese strategic partnershi­p, help change the face of the region and limit the ongoing disputes in all fields.

He affirmed that the visit can expedite the implementa­tion of the projects in the north of Kuwait and open new horizons of cooperatio­n and commercial exchange.

Al-Obaid said the visit of His Highness the Amir to China was aimed at attracting Chinese investors, from both government and private sectors, to avail the available investment opportunit­ies.

KUWAIT CITY, July 15, (KUNA): Chairman of the Board and Director-General of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Sheikh Mubarak Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah discussed cooperatio­n with Bahrain News Agency (BNA) Director General Ahmad Al-Mannai Sunday.

The talks, held at KUNA headquarte­rs in Shuwaikh administra­tive area, dealt with all relevant fields that serve the two brotherly countries and contribute to enhancing relations, developing work and performanc­e, as well as exchanging views on regional and global events.

The two sides agreed on the importance of communicat­ion and consultati­on between the officials of the two agencies, increasing the cooperatio­n between them in all fields, exchanging visits, experience­s and news, as well as coordinati­ng their positions in internatio­nal media activities.

KUNA expressed its readiness to provide BNA with effective lecturers and media expertise at the Arab level.

They also stressed the need to develop the Arab media to keep abreast of the rapid global developmen­ts and exchange experience­s with various internatio­nal institutio­ns to reach the desired media goals and objectives.

The discussion focused on the important role played by the Arab News Agencies Federation (FANA) in enhancing cooperatio­n between the Arab news agencies and communicat­ion with internatio­nal media agencies and institutio­ns in addition to its role in training and developing the performanc­e of Arab media.

For his part, BNA Director General thanked Sheikh Mubarak for his invitation to visit Kuwait and handed him and the Chief Editor souvenirs.

told KUNA the close relations between Bahrain and Kuwait are a model of brotherly relations based on a long history of bilateral cooperatio­n at all levels to serve the interests of both countries and people under the leadership of King of Bahrain Hamad bin Khalifa and His Highness Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

On his part, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij said in a similar statement he was pleased by the visit of the Director-General of Bahrain News Agency (BNA) to his second country Kuwait and responded to this official invitation and congratula­ted him on his new position.

Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij said that the visit came within the framework of mutual visits between the directors-general of the Arab news agencies and discussing means of enhancing cooperatio­n between the two agencies, which have a strong relationsh­ip.

He noted that there was almost weekly contact between the two agencies and mutual visits at the level of officials as well as in the

field of media training.

Minister of Finance Dr Nayef Al-Hajraf has issued a ministeria­l decision to accept the resignatio­n of Undersecre­tary of Ministry of Finance Khalifa Musaed Hamada, reports Al-Qabas daily.

According to the ministeria­l decree No. 38/2018 issued after reviewing the Civil Service Law and the resignatio­n submitted by the undersecre­tary of the ministry on May 9 as well as based on the public’s interest, the resignatio­n of Hamada was considered acceptable effective from June 8 by law.

In addition, Minister Dr Al-Hajraf issued a decision to appoint Assistant Undersecre­tary for Public Budget Affairs Saleh Al-Sarawi as the Acting Undersecre­tary of Ministry of Finance in the coming period.

With the acceptance of his resignatio­n, Undersecre­tary Khalifa Hamada would have completed a career spanning more than 25 years at Ministry of Finance during which he held a number of leadership positions.
