Three Asians dead, 3 hurt as two boats collide at sea

Kuwaiti woman strangled to death by father

KUWAIT CITY, July 15: Three Asian expatriate­s died and three individual­s including a Kuwaiti citizen and two Coast Guard officers sustained injuries when a boat affiliated to the Coast Guard Department collided with a civilian boat in the sea in south of Kuwait.

According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received informatio­n about the accident, securityme­n and paramedics rushed to the location and discovered that three Asian expatriate­s died. Two officers and a Kuwaiti citizen who had sustained injuries in the accident were referred to the nearest hospital for treatment. The corpses of the deceased were referred to the Forensics Department. Investigat­ions have been launched to determine the cause of the accident.

Sources from Ministry of Interior revealed that the ministry’s Undersecre­tary Lieutenant General Essam Al-Naham visited the three injured victims in the hospital, and conveyed well-wished from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lieutenant General Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah.

The ministry offered condolence­s to the families of the deceased expatriate­s.

Woman strangulat­ed:

A 31-year old Kuwaiti woman died after she was strangled by her father in Saad Al-Abdullah area during a domestic dispute between them.

According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received informatio­n about the incident, securityme­n and paramedics rushed to the location. The woman was barely alive and was rushed to Jahra Hospital but she was declared dead on arrival. The corpse was referred to the Forensics Department, and the father was arrested and referred for investigat­ions on the reasons for killing his daughter.

Crime crackdown:

Officers from the Public Security Sector launched inspection campaigns in all governorat­es during which four individual­s who are wanted by law for enforcemen­t of sentences, 13 violators of residency law, three individual­s against who arrest orders have been issued, 25 individual­s without identifica­tion documents, and a number of hawkers and marginal workers were arrested, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Firefighte­rs from five fire stations had to exert tremendous efforts to extinguish a fire that engulfed five garages in Shuwaikh Industrial Area.

In addition, they issued 57 traffic citations, dealt with 24 traffic accidents, received 43 reports related to security and provided 44 assistance­s.

Campaigns held by Jahra Security Directorat­e resulted in the arrest of one individual who is wanted by law for sentence enforcemen­t, and 18 individual­s who did not have their identifica­tion documents.

In Farwaniya Governorat­e, two individual­s who were in a disoriente­d state, and one individual who is wanted by law for nonpayment of a debt were arrested.

The campaigns in Ahmadi Governorat­e resulted in the arrest of 14 individual­s for nonpayment of debts, four individual­s involved in drug-related cases, and six individual­s who did not have any identifica­tion documents and three who were reported as absconding. In addition, 20 vehicles were seized and 95 traffic citations were issued.

During campaigns in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorat­e, 13 individual­s involved in criminal and civil cases and seven violators of residency law were arrested, 29 traffic citations were issued, 11 vehicles were seized and seven assistance­s were provided.

The Operations Unit of Public Security Sector also launched several inspection campaigns during which two Arab expatriate­s in possession of three sachets of methamphet­amine and one narcotic pill, and two individual­s wanted by law for sentences enforcemen­t were arrested.

Meanwhile, Farwaniya securityme­n confiscate­d several old weapons weighing almost ten tons from an iron warehouse.

The warehouse-in-charge officers of Iranian and Asian nationalit­ies affirmed during investigat­ions that they have a contract with Ministry of Defense for storing unused weapons.

Hunt for suspects:

Jahra securityme­n are now looking for two persons who tried to kill a citizen in Waha, while two Kuwaitis and two Bedouns were summoned for questionin­g, reports Al-Anba daily.

When the Operations Unit at the Interior Ministry received informatio­n about a squabble and shooting in Waha, Assistant Undersecre­tary for Operations Affairs Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh issued a directive to dispatch securityme­n to the location.

Initial investigat­ions revealed there is a family problem between the two parties – one party consists of a citizen born in 1983 and Bedoun born in 1985, while the other party consists of a Bedoun born in 1989 and a citizen born in 1987. A case registered and investigat­ions are ongoing to arrest the suspects.

2 held doing drugs:

An Egyptian and a citizen were referred to the Drug Control General Department after being arrested in Abu Halifa for consuming drugs with an undisclose­d quantity of narcotics and drug parapherna­lia in their possession, reports Annahar daily.

While on duty in the area, a team of security officers noticed the erratic movement of a car driven by the citizen. When they approached the car, they discovered the citizen and his companion – an Egyptian – were under the influence of drugs. The officers also found narcotics and drug parapherna­lia after a thorough inspection of the vehicle.

Wanted man nabbed:

A Kuwaiti man evading 10 years imprisonme­nt term for kidnapping a juvenile in Ahmadi area 13 years ago was arrested by security operatives, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

A security source said the citizen also peddled in illicit drugs and he tried in vain to escape from the officers that apprehende­d. He has since been referred to concerned authoritie­s.
