KRCS commends HH Amir for promoting humanitari­an role

KRCS highly appreciate­d by Tanzanian govt, people

CAIRO, Aug 1, (KUNA): A Kuwaiti relief official on Wednesday lauded His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s role in the promotion of Kuwait’s humanitari­an and relief role. The remark was made by Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Public Relations Chief Khaled Al-Zeid to KUNA on the sidelines of a workshop on humanitari­an media, organized in Cairo today.

He said that the fact that His Highness the Amir was awarded Abu Bakr Al-Siddique Medal of Honor, which is the highest-class award of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organizati­on (ARCO), reflects His Highness the Amir’s efforts in the humanitari­an field.

The KRCS was acclaimed by participan­ts in the workshop for its role in backing humanitari­an activities, he said, speaking highly of everyone’s efforts to demonstrat­e Kuwait’s humanitari­an and relief role.

He also acclaimed the joint initiative of the KRCS and the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organizati­on (ARCO) for establishi­ng “humanitari­an media”. On the workshop, he said it explored an array of subjects and issues, primarily humanitari­an media and the role of the press in armed conflicts. Deputy Chairman of Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Anwar Al-Hasawi said on Wednesday that Kuwait is keen to continue supporting humanitari­an and relief work in various parts of the world.

Al-Hasawi made his remarks to KUNA after his visit to the headquarte­rs of Tanzania Red Cross society (TRCS).

Al-Hasawi said that Kuwait’s humanitari­an efforts in Africa represente­d by KRCS, especially in Tanzania, are highly appreciate­d by the Tanzanian leadership, government and people.

He added that he discussed with TRCS chief ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

He noted that the KRCS’s delegation visited the Muhnbili hospital for children with cancer, provided food and medical supplies and toys to the children’s center, as well as distributi­ng food and relief supplies to the needy in Kigutuza governorat­e.

The KRCS delegation concluded its visit today in Tanzania after carrying out vital projects, including schools, blood bank system, distributi­on of handicappe­d equipment and supporting the vocational rehabilita­tion center.

For his part, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Tanzania Jassem Al-Najem said in a similar statement that Kuwait is keen on supporting the good deeds and provide a helping hand to the needy everywhere.

Head of the Public Sector Labor Union Hussain Al-Azmi praised the decision of the Cabinet to form committee tasked to scrutinize the credential­s of citizens working in State institutio­ns, reports Al-Anba daily. He hopes the committee’s work will yield positive results and uncover forgery cases involving public sector staff.

He also lauded the efforts exerted by HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak in addressing issues concerning citizens, particular­ly his insistence to take legal action against those proven to be involved in the forged certificat­es issue upon completion of investigat­ions.

Meanwhile, Director General of Customs General Department Consultant Jamal Al-Jalawi has appointed Masha’an Al-Ada’as as Director for Land Customs, Dlal Al-Otaiabi for Legal Affairs, Ali Al-Enzi for Administra­tive Affairs, Rashid Al-Baraka for Search and Detection, and Safaa Jaber for Financial and Technical, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.
