‘Minor mishap reconciliation order shows positive results’

‘Block’ on seized vehicles not removed since two months

-

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 1: Director General of Investigation affirmed that activation and implementation of the ‘minor traffic accident reconciliation order’ has reflected positively on the traffic situation in the country by easing procedures for all parties involved in accidents.

He noted the order was activated with a pilot test in the Capital Governorate on June 3 and its success led to implementation in other governorates since Sunday, July 1 in collaboration with all print, audio, audiovisual and social media, which is tasked to educate the public and explain the law.

He declared statistics concerning the implementation of minor traffic accident reconciliation orders in the six governorates from July 1 to July 31 wherein Capital Governorate recorded 1304 and Hawalli 1418, while Mubarak Al-Kabeer registered 376 and Ahmadi 644, Farwaniya 776, and 422 in Jahra. A total of 970 reconciliation orders were issued since June 3 to June 30.

He explained the party causing the accident is made to pay KD20 and the reconciliation order is sent to the insurance company by the victim who will be compensated without necessarily sending the papers to court; thus reducing the processing period.

He stressed “in case of a minor accident wherein the two parties are not ready for reconciliation, the vehicle should be removed from the road to the right shoulder lane or the nearest safe place to avoid blocking the traffic until the arrival of the police at the scene”.

In case two vehicles or more failed to reconcile, they should all go to the concerned police station for official procedure, and if they fail to create space for smooth traffic flow, citation will be issued against them in line with Article 133 of traffic law amended by the ministerial decision number 2934/2016.

‘Block’ not removed:

A number of individuals complained at Capital Traffic Department that blocks are being released only in the Capital Traffic Department even though there are investigation sections for violations in all traffic departments in other governorates and there are police officers of ranks “Colonel” and “Lieutenant Colonel” working there, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

One of the complainants revealed that he was issued a citation for reckless driving. When he went to Ahmadi Traffic Department, he was told that the application should be signed by the director general of General Traffic Department or the director of the violations department.

He insisted that, even though vehicles are seized for two months, facilities should be made in the relevant sections in all traffic departments in all governorates for automatic release of the block in order to reduce complaints from the visitors.

Encroachments razed:

Officers from the Control and Monitoring Department of Jahra Municipality launched a campaign in desert areas of Sulaibiya during which they removed of 15 unlicensed randomly-built structures, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The campaign was part of the series of campaigns aimed at the removal of illegal structures based on instructions from the DirectorGeneral of Kuwait Municipality Eng. Ahmad Al-Manfouhi.

Kuwait Municipality affirmed the continuation of such campaigns to eradicate such kinds of negative phenomena in desert areas, insisting that its inspectors will implement the regulations with resolve against violators of law and regulations.

Citizens swindled:

A number of citizens have filed a complaint at the Office of Attorney General Dirar Al-Assoussi against a major real estate company which swindled more than 1,000 citizens, reports Al-Qabas daily.

A knowledgeable source clarified this company is different from the other company whose case is still in court on charges of fraud and sale of bogus real estate properties in and outside the country.

“How can a leading company be allowed to sell real estate properties worth millions, while its capital does not exceed KD2,000?” asked one of the lawyers who filed a lawsuit.

He pointed out the victims were cheated and deceived as formal procedures were taken under the supervision of the lawyers of the owners of the company, in addition to advertising by famous people on social networking sites so it was just natural for the citizens to believe that the properties really exist.
