MEW team target bachelors’ quarters in Jahra

PAI to conduct study on industrial cities

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 5: In an unexpected proactive step, the team with the power to arrest in the Ministry of Electricit­y and Water (MEW) carried out a campaign targeting bachelors’ accommodat­ions in Jahra Governorat­e under the supervisio­n of Deputy Team Leader Ahmad Al-Shammari, reports Al-Shahid daily quoting a reliable source.

The source explained this campaign was aimed at uncovering irregulari­ties and taking action against those proven to have committed violations, indicating the punishment includes cutting off power supply. The source pointed out the campaign was made possible through the concerted efforts of MEW, Kuwait Municipali­ty and Ministry of Commerce after the formation of a joint committee.

The source added the team also coordinate­d with the Interior Ministry to arrest or deport expatriate­s wanted by law and proven to have committed violations, as well as file lawsuits against citizens who violated laws.

Meanwhile, the Public Authority for Industry (PAI) intends to conduct an integrated study on industrial cities while exploring French, Russian and Chinese experiment­s in building and managing these cities, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting a source. According to the source, PAI will open investment and financial channels in industrial cities including Naeem and the Industrial Nutritiona­l City which will be establishe­d in the future. He also emphasized the significan­ce of the role that will be played by the private sector in the implementa­tion of these projects. The source affirmed the new industrial cities will create great investment opportunit­ies through a partnershi­p between the government and private sectors.

Furthermor­e, The Ministry of Electricit­y and Water (MEW) will soon implement the second phase of the reshuffle and transfer of employees, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.

Sources revealed the decision covers a number of department directors and heads of various sectors such as Consumer Affairs, Electronic Networks and Financial Affairs.
