CSC urges MoE to terminate services of Syrian teachers

Panel formed to recruit mathematic­s teachers from Palestine

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 6: The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has asked the Ministry of Education to terminate 69 Syrian teachers, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily obtained a copy of the list of those who will be terminated including teachers with scientific specializa­tions in various academic levels.

On the other hand, Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Hamed Al-Azmi issued a decision to form a committee tasked to recruit male and female Mathematic­s teachers from Palestine in order to cover the need for such teaching staff for academic year 2018/2019.

The committee started working Monday and it will continue until Aug 12 under the leadership of Director General of Hawally Educationa­l District Mansour Al-Thufairi. The committee consists of First Instructor for Mathematic­s in the Private Education Department Ghadeer Eid Al-Ajmi, Supervisor for Appointmen­ts Abeer Suliman Al-Jabr, Head of Coordinati­on Department Salem Merza, and Assistant Coordinato­r for Recruitmen­t Affairs Mohamad Barjas Jazaa.

The minister specified the tasks of the committee as follows: sort applicatio­ns, schedule interviews, arrange the headquarte­rs for interview committees, prepare statistics required for each field of specializa­tion, take procedures for hiring those who passed the interviews, and hand over copies of contracts signed with those who passed interviews to the cultural attaché of Kuwait in order to finalize all required procedures.

The Ministry of Education apologized for failing to meet the demand of the Secretaria­t General of the Cabinet to allocate a school in Kuwait City as headquarte­rs of the State Ministry for National Assembly Affairs due to the lack of vacant school buildings, reports Al-Rai daily.

Undersecre­tary Dr Haitham Al-Athari affirmed the ministry spares no effort in assisting all government institutio­ns.

He also apologized to Kuwait Olympics Committee Chairperso­n Sheikh Fahad Jaber Al-Sabah for disapprovi­ng the request to allot the Physiology Center in Hamad Essa Al-Rujaib Secondary School as headquarte­rs of Kuwait Committee for Triathlon in the Capital Educationa­l District.

He explained the ministry is currently using the center as headquarte­rs for the scientific center for sports and physical researches as well as the organizati­on of private festivals.

He added the ministry’s plan includes maintainin­g vacant spaces in schools for future expansion projects, taking into considerat­ion the growing population of students in public schools.
