KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14: Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has decided to grant the tender for the project of maintenance and operation of replacement of heaters in the gas liquidizing units 1, 2 and 3 in Ahmadi Port Refinery to a Chinese company Sinopec, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to informed sources, the value of the contract is KD 9.1 million.

They affirmed that gas production represents a major part of the work of KNPC, which has a factory for liquidizing gas in Ahmadi Port with four production lines and a total capacity of 2,458 billion cubic feet per day.

The sources explained that the use of gas has a number of advantages including minimizing thermal emissions especially sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides and carbon dioxide. It also helps save other oil products including crude oil, gas oil and fuel oil. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is used in power plants and different industries as well as for domestic use.

The sources revealed that KNPC is working on adding a fifth production line in Ahmadi Port Refinery with a total capacity of 805 million cubic feet per day, which will increase the total production of the refinery to almost 3.3 billion cubic feet per day.

Deputy Chairman of Kuwait Hajj delegation and Assistant Undersecretary for Quran and Islamic Studies Affairs at Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr Waleed Al-Shuaib called upon Kuwaiti pilgrims to focus their efforts on performing the rituals as perfectly as they can and avoid getting involved in other issues including political arguments and the like, reports Al-Anba daily.

Dr Al-Shuaib praised the efforts exerted by the Saudi government to facilitate Hajj procedures starting from receiving the pilgrims to providing necessary facilities that can enable them to carry out the ritual easily.

He revealed that the number of licensed Kuwaiti Hajj caravans is 49, and the number of Kuwaiti and Bedoun pilgrims is 8,000 and 1,000 respectively.

Dr Al-Shuaib affirmed that Kuwaiti Hajj caravans are known to be the most committed to the regulations specified by the Saudi government, adding that, for the first time, a hotel has been allocated for the Kuwaiti Hajj delegation unlike the previous years.

He stressed the keenness of the Kuwaiti Hajj delegation to abide the regulations issued by the Saudi government for the pilgrims.
