KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14: Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs and Development at Ministry of Education Fahad Al-Ghais has disclosed the launch of procedures for receiving new expatriate teachers from the countries specified for recruitment of teachers for the 2018/2019 academic year, reports Al-Rai daily.

He requested undersecretary of Ministry of Health to approve and notify the competent authority to provide a specialist for conducting medical examinations on morning and evening shifts during working days as well as weekends and public holidays at the headquarters of the Medical Board in Al-Sabah Hospital from Wednesday until the completion of the work.

Al-Ghais explained in a letter addressed to the undersecretary of Ministry of Health that the procedure is in accordance with the annual practice of the ministry and is deemed necessary in the beginning of the new academic year 2018/2019 to receive the new teaching staff on external contracts, as this requires facilitation of the task to complete their procedures.

He also requested the Assistant Undersecretary for Ports Security Affairs at Ministry of Interior to issue a permit to allow the ministry’s cars to be parked at Kuwait International Airport for transporting the expatriate teachers newly recruited from abroad for the new school year according to the ministry’s custom of receiving them and transporting them to the hospitality headquarters.

Meanwhile, sources highlighted that, in view of the preparations for the new academic year, there is an ongoing coordination between the ministry’s Financial Department and Ministry of Finance to carry out necessary maintenance of the teachers’ accommodations which have been taken on rent for more than three years.

Ministry of Finance has also been advised to cancel a number of leased buildings in various educational zones as well as follow-up with Ministry of Education to supply all needs such as furniture, equipment and other services.

The sources said the ministry has devised a mechanism to receive new male and female expatriate teachers, revealing that the Undersecretary of the ministry Dr Haitham Al-Athari issued a decision to form a reception committee for the new academic year and as well as provide its needs in coordination with the Department of Supplies and Stores.
