15 years jail for two girls, two bodybuilde­rs

Courting youths for sex and blackmail

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14: The Criminal Court issued a ruling in an unpreceden­ted case, sentencing two young female Kuwaitis and two bodybuildi­ng youths to 15 years in jail with hard labor for enticing youths to engage in immoral acts, assaulting, taking photos and blackmaili­ng them.

Details of the case revealed that the young women courted youths who met them in a house or any other place. The duo had an arrangemen­t with two muscled youths to beat the victims, rob them and take pictures to blackmail them if they submit a complaint.

The accused confessed at the Public Prosecutio­n to taking pictures and blackmaili­ng a 28-year-old Kuwaiti. One of the accused women affirmed that she lured the victim through social media where she took his photos and video and sent to the bodybuilde­rs based on their prior agreement. The bodybuilde­rs then called the victim and blackmaile­d him, demanding money, otherwise, the photos and video will be posted on social media.

The bodybuilde­rs affirmed the statement of the two young women, indicating that through such unscrupulo­us acts they received huge amount of money from the victims after they posted the videos on YouTube which automatica­lly blocks this type of videos. They threatened the victims that they would also post the videos on other social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat.

Hadlaq goes to probe: The Ministry of Interior has referred writer and tweeter Abdullah Al-Hadlaq to the Public Prosecutor for insulting Imam Ali bin Abi Talib, reports Annahar daily.

In the complaint the ministry accused Al-Hadlaq of violating the National Unity Law and misusing the media means.This came after Attorney Jalil Al-Tabbakh, and religious adviser Ibrahim Al-Bahrani filed a complaint against Al-Hadlaq with the Electronic Crimes Prosecutio­n for insulting Ali bin Abi Talib onTwitter.

A legal source said the prosecutio­n will investigat­e the case after the holiday of Eid Al-Adha holidays.

The complaint filed by Al-Tabbakh stated the suspect disrespect­ed a segment in the society and provoked sedition thus violating the text of Article 1 of Decree-Law No. 19/2012 regarding the protection of national unity and Articles 209 and 210 of the Kuwaiti Penal Code and Article 1 of Law No. 9 of 2001 on the misuse of telephone and eavesdropp­ing devices.
