Kuwait Univer­sity ac­cepts 238 il­le­gal res­i­dents as stu­dents for Ist se­mes­ter

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 15, (KUNA): Kuwait Univer­sity (KU) has ac­cepted 238 il­le­gal res­i­dents as stu­dents for the first se­mes­ter of the aca­demic year 2018-2019, Cen­tral Sys­tem for the Rem­edy of Sit­u­a­tions of Il­le­gal Res­i­dents (CARIRS) said.

Di­rec­tor of In­for­ma­tion De­part­ment at CARIRS Ab­dul­lah Al-Farhan told KUNA Satur­day that th­ese stu­dents were reg­is­tered for stud­ies in var­i­ous fac­ul­ties.

They in­clude 143 male and fe­male chil­dren of Kuwaiti women and 95 oth­ers.

He added that the CARIRS co­or­di­nated with the Dean­ship of Ad­mis­sion and Regis­tra­tion of (KU) to reg­is­ter th­ese stu­dents through con­duct­ing meet­ings and del­e­gated a num­ber of his em­ploy­ees to at­tend while sub­mit­ting regis­tra­tion’s ap­pli­ca­tions.

Mean­while, Min­istry of Awqaf and Is­lamic Af­fairs Un­der­sec­re­tary Fared Emadi said the min­istry has been re­ha­bil­i­tat­ing some of the Imam Al-Sadeq Mosque bomb­ing sus­pects, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Min­istry of In­te­rior and Kuwait Univer­sity, re­ports Al-Qabas daily.

In a press state­ment, Emadi dis­closed the min­istry in­tends to in­te­grate peo­ple with ex­trem­ist ide­olo­gies back into the so­ci­ety af­ter the suc­cess­ful re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion of 21 mem­bers of the Is­land Black Cell (Khilyat Aswad Al-Jazeera). He af­firmed this is a global re­quire­ment, es­pe­cially since the re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion pro­gram suc­ceeded in teach­ing them the real prin­ci­ples of Islam.
