Rape bid foiled:

Hawally securityme­n arrested an Indian for attempting to rape a Kuwaiti woman at a private hospital where the latter went for hearing test, reports Al-Rai daily.

The woman lodged a complaint at Jabriyah Police Station, saying she went to the private hospital for a hearing test to be carried out by the Indian technician.

She realized that the suspect was touching sensitive parts of her body during the test and when she could no longer bear it so she cried out for help. The suspect escaped from the hospital immediatel­y, but the woman provided police with a detailed descriptio­n. The officers obtained a warrant from the Public Prosecutio­n to arrest the suspect. During the arrest, the officers found out that the suspect is registered as a restaurant worker in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. Investigat­ion is ongoing to verify his academic qualificat­ion to carry out such a technical procedure in a hospital and the primary case of attempted rape. cision No 664 to construct one police station in Mangaf affiliated to the Fahaheel Command, and the other two in the North and South Sabah AlAhmad City which will be under the Wafra Command.

Sources said, the police stations are currently under constructi­on and are being equipped by the Support Services Department in coordinati­on with the concerned authority.

Salesman robbed:

The Jahra police are looking for an unidentifi­ed police impersonat­or for robbing an Indian salesman working for a phone shop, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily added, the suspect paraded the shop looking up and down and finally introduced himself as a CID man and ordered the man to show his ID.

As the victim pulled out his wallet the suspect grabbed the wallet and escaped in his car.

The wallet contained the ID of the salesman and an unidentifi­ed sum of money.

Smuggling cigarettes:

A GCC national was arrested at Nuwaiseeb border checkpoint for attempting to smuggle 45 cartons of cigarette packs out of the country.

According to sources, customs officers at Nuwaiseeb border checkpoint suspected the GCC national and checked his vehicle to find the cigarette cartons inside the petrol tank. They confiscate­d the cigarette cartons and arrested the suspect. He was referred with the cigarette cartons to the concerned authoritie­s for necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, customs officers at Kuwait Internatio­nal Airport arrested an Asian expatriate who was in possession of 250 grams of drugs which were hidden in his luggage. He was referred with the confiscate­d drugs to the Drug Control General Department for necessary legal action.
