Not only is this relationship bound by defence, security and diplomacy, he said at an embassy event, in reference to His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s talks with President Donald Trump held earlier this month.

During the visit, His Highness also met representatives of leading US companies. There already exist several Kuwaiti investments in the US. Describing the talks, the ambassador said they were very important, adding he looked forward to the upcoming US-Kuwait Strategic Dialogue due later this year.

Washington hopes to see some amendments made to local Kuwaiti economic, trade and investment laws. This would help usher in foreign investments, including those potentially made by US firms, said Silverman.

Politically, he said the encounter was not only a sign of the depth of bilateral relations, but that it also signals the strength of the US bond with Gulf countries in general.

Amid their talks, the two leaders discussed the Gulf dispute, agreeing on the need to unearth a solution to the predicament as quick as possible for the benefit of all six countries.

The importance of resolving this matter comes as the US and its Gulf allies need to work closely in facing the threat terrorism poses to the region, he underlined.
