Kuwaiti markets seek global exposure: PAI
Volume of trade between Kuwait, Denmark hits $142m in ’17
DOHA, Sept 25, (KUNA): Kuwait’s Public Authority for Industry (PAI) said on Tuesday that the growth and development of the local industrial sector largely hinge on the government’s support and much needed exposure.
PAI has always been eager to prop up Kuwaiti industries through increasing local exports, its director general for exports Mohammad Al-Ajmi told KUNA on the sidelines of a construction fair in the Qatari capital.
He said that such events provide an opportunity for Kuwaiti markets to promote their goods and familiarize foreign consumers with products made in the Gulf state.
On the construction fair, which is one of the most popular events in the region, Al-Ajmi said the omnipresence of Kuwaiti factories and markets is an indicator that the industrial sector in Kuwait is poised for growth.
He added that Kuwait’s pavilion at the expo, which has attracted more than 240 companies from 21 nations, stretches over 120 square meters, where goods running the gamut from healthcare to construction and design are on display.
Volume
Meanwhile, the volume of trade exchange between Kuwait and Denmark reached $142 million in 2017, said the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Monday.
This came during Director of Foreign Relations Department of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry Salah Eyadah’s statement after receiving Danish economy delegation, including representatives of companies operating in the oil and gas sectors.
This visit will contribute to enhancing trade and investment relations between the two countries, Eyadah said.
KCCI plays a major role in the development of economic and trade relations with Denmark, said the Head of Trade Department of the Danish embassy in Riyadh and head of the delegation Ture Vahan Munksgaard, during the meeting, which also included representatives of Kuwaiti companies.
The Danish companies are looking forward to cooperate with a number of Kuwaiti companies in the field of oil and gas, Munksgaard said. Adding there are many promising opportunities of excellent investment feasibility in Denmark in various fields.
The Danish delegation also presented presentations on the services of Danish companies and their products followed by bilateral meetings with Kuwaiti companies to discuss ways of cooperation and possible bilateral partnerships.
