Advisory for OCI card holders:

-

All those having OCI Cards are required to carry both their OCI Card and passport to travel to India so that they do not face any difficulty in immigratio­n clearance.

From October 2018, ICAO will accept only machine readable travel documents, hence, existing PIO Cards, which are handwritte­n will therefore, become invalid. Thus it will be necessary upon PIO Cardholder­s to obtain machine readable OCI Cards in lieu of existing hand written PIO Cards before October 2018 to avoid any inconvenie­nce.

Centenary celebratio­n:

The Mar Thoma Suvisesha Sevika Sanghom has set apart 2018-2019 as the Centenary Year and various programmes and projects have been charted out in this connection. His Grace the Most Rev Dr Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolit­an has inaugurate­d Centenary Celebratio­ns during 2018 Maramon Convention on 16th February. Some of the Centenary Programmes and Projects are listed below.

Conduct an yearlong Daily Devotional Programme with the help of audio — visual media.

To raise funds through various Centenary projects through “A Rupee a Day”.

The Centenary Social Welfare Programmes are as follows.

Start a Centre to coordinate Women Empowermen­t Programmes at Thelliyoor.

To give Land for the Landless and Home for the Homeless. Promote “Self Employment” projects. To give 24 hour counseling services to women and children who may be passing through Stress and Tension.

Conduct “World Mar Thoma Women’s gettogethe­r” as part of the finale (concluding Session) of the Centenary on Saturday, Feb 9, 2019 at Maramon Convention Nagar.

Kuwait Centre Mar Thoma Suvisesha Sevika Sanghom is also commemorat­ing this special occasion and a Public Meeting is being arranged on Friday, Sept 28, 2018 at The Indian Community School (ICSK), Salmiya at 6:00 pm. Indian Embassy event:

Embassy of India will be celebratin­g 150th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi at the Embassy premises, on Tuesday, Oct 2, 2018. The program will be for an hour from 8:30 to 9:30 am. It will include garlanding of the Mahathma’s statue, release of the Commemorat­ive Stamp, and rendition of Bapu’s bhajans/song by children from Indian School in Kuwait.

All friends of India and the community members are cordially invited to be part of this event and join us in paying our respects to the Father of the Nation.
