HH Amir congratula­tes Saudi King on launching of high-speed train

UN thanks Kuwait for support to ME peace efforts

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 26, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent on Wednesday a congratula­tion cable to Saudi Arabia King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud on the occasion of inaugurati­ng the “high-speed Train of the Two Holy Mosques”.

In his cable, His Highness the Amir, on behalf of the Kuwaiti government and people, expressed his sincere congratula­tions on launching of the express train connecting the city of Jeddah with the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, under the patronage of his brother, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

His Highness the Amir affirmed that the completion of this great project, which coincided with the celebratio­ns of the brotherly country national day, will contribute, with the help of God, in facilitati­ng the convenienc­e of pilgrims and their Hajj and Umrah rituals in the framework of the continues services the kingdom offers for pilgrims.

His Highness wished the Saudi king best of health and well-being to achieve the progress and prosperity of the kingdom and its people under his wise leadership.

His Highness Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah sent similar cables.

Meanwhile, UN Special Coordinato­r for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov Tuesday thanked Kuwait for its “historic role and relentless support” to all internatio­nal efforts aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East.

Mladinov made the remarks during a meeting with Kuwait Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, on sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s (UNGA) Session in New York.

Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled thanked Mladinov for his tireless efforts to push forward the peace process, wishing his endeavors would bring about a just and comprehens­ive peace in the Middle East.

The two diplomats discussed regional and internatio­nal efforts to push the peace process forward.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Foreign Minister for the Minister’s office Ambassador Sheikh Dr Ahmad Nasser Mohammad Al-Sabah, Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs Nasser Al-Muzayyen, Kuwait’s permanent representa­tive to the UN Mansour Al-Otaibi and Assistant Foreign Minister for Internatio­nal Organizati­on Nasser Al-Hayyen.
