Gulf Bank 642 Marathon ‘extends’ partnershi­p with Pro-Vision Sports

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 26: Gulf Bank launches the ‘Gulf Bank 642 Marathon’ for the fourth consecutiv­e year in partnershi­p with Pro-Vision Sports Management. The iconic community event invites challenge seeking athletes as well as novice runners to participat­e in Kuwait’s only accredited race on Nov 17. The 2017 marathon was an unpreceden­ted success with 6,000 attendees representi­ng over 130 nationalit­ies competing at the event.

Commenting on the annual event, Tony Daher, CEO at Gulf Bank, said: “Gulf Bank 642 Marathon is one of the region’s most prominent sporting events as athletes at all levels accomplish personal milestones. Adding to the action and festivitie­s, the magnificen­t event will feature a host of attraction­s making it a fun day out for the whole family. This year, we are expecting an even higher turnout and we look forward to welcoming athletes from around the world.”

Ahmed Al Huzami, CEO of ProVision Sport Management, said: “Our partnershi­p with Gulf Bank has placed Kuwait on the map for internatio­nal sporting events, receiving accreditat­ion from the Associatio­n of Internatio­nal Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and the Internatio­nal Associatio­n of Athletics Federation­s (IAAF Athletics). We are delighted to be continuing on this journey with Gulf Bank and look forward to this year’s event.”

Taking place on Nov 17, the marathon serves as a qualifying race for internatio­nal marathons. It has four categories, which are open to runners of all ages and abilities, from the 5K Family Fun Walk/Run and the 10K Souq Run to the more advanced 21K Half Marathon and Kuwait’s only 42K Full Marathon. The route starts and ends at Souq Sharq, with runners making their way along the Gulf Road, past Kuwaiti landmarks such as Souk Al Mubarakiya, Al Seif Palace and Kuwait Towers.
