KUWAIT CITY, Sept 29: State Minister for Housing and Services Affairs Jinan Boushehri confirmed the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has obtained approval from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Fatwa and Legislation Department to establish a company for investment according to the law, reports AlJarida daily.

Boushehri disclosed the company will serve as the investment arm of PAHW to replace the Investment Affairs and Private Sector Projects Department, stressing that the latter will continue operating until the completion of procedures for establishing the company. She said the aim of establishing the company includes expediting work procedures in different departments at PAHW and minimizing circulation of documents. She added three out of 10 departments been cancelled, affirming their tasks will be distributed to other departments. The cancelled departments include the Strategic Department and Human Resources Development Department, while the Administrative Affairs Department was merged with the Financial Affairs Department to become the Administrative and Financial Affairs Department.

Meanwhile, PAHW denied rumors spread on social media about the subcontractor for Metla’a housing project. Sources said PAHW has warned the contractor that in case the delay exceeds 20 percent, the project will be withdrawn from him; clarifying that this came after the contractor delayed implementation by 15 percent.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Electricity and Water has asked the Central Tenders Committee (CTC) to approve the tender for the establishment of nine fresh water towers in Al-Metla’a Housing City, revealing that the project will be implemented within 36 months and the towers will be operational by January 2021, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources.

Sources said this is part of a package of projects that the ministry intends to implement soon. Sources confirmed the project is included in the ministry’s plan for fiscal year 2017/2018.
