CAIRO, Oct 2, (KUNA): A visiting member of the Kuwaiti National Assembly on Tuesday underscored His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s paramount role of striving to keep the Arabs united.

His Highness the Amir has been acting as a brother to all Arab states, said the Kuwaiti MP, Askar Al-Enezi, lauding his efforts to heal disarrays among the Gulf and Arab states.

Al-Enezi, a member of the Arab Parliament committee of cultural, women and youth affairs, was speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

He underlined the Arab Parliament praise for the humanitarian role by His Highness the Amir, the Leader of Humanitarian Action.

As to today’s committee session, Al-Enezi said he and his colleagues discussed a number of issues namely updating universities in Arab countries and taking action against colleges that fail to produce qualified students.

Meanwhile, the Arab League on Tuesday heaped praise on Kuwait for the “shrewd diplomacy” the Gulf state is known for, which has propelled it to global prominence.

The regional bloc’s assistant secretary general Dr Saeed Abu Ali made the remarks in a seminar he delivered over the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, in which he gave Kuwait credit for its efforts to serve the best interests of the Arab region.

He cited “terrorism and extremism” as among the many challenges facing the region, in addition to the Middle East conflict, which he said can only end when the Palestinians’ aspirations for statehood come to fruition.

The Arab League secretary general’s official spokesman Mahmoud Afifi said that the bloc has always united Arab nations and kept them closer together.

He revealed that the Arab League is in the process of a major overhaul, which is necessary given the tumultuous events taking place around the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Ambassador of Kuwait to Bahrain Sheikh Azzam Al-Sabah during the blood

Middle East.

In the meantime, a visiting member of the Kuwaiti National Assembly on Tuesday re-affirmed Kuwait’s explicit support for activating joint Arab institutions and preserving the Arab nation’s security.

Ali Al-Deqbasi, also a member of the Arab Parliament committee of external, political and national security affairs, was speaking to KUNA on sidelines of a meeting by the commission.

Al-Deqbasi affirmed Kuwait’s effective role in bolstering cooperation among Arab states in the face of challenges and hazards, namely policies of the “Zionist entity (Israel),” aimed at expanding occupation of Arab territories and foreign powers’ meddling in the Arab countries affairs.

Kuwait has sincerely called for cessation of infighting in some Arab countries, he said, also expressing regret for spread of diseases, arms’ proliferation, illiteracy and poverty in some Arab countries.

Kuwait has moreover adopted a humanitarian policy at the Arab level in line with the sagacious policy, spearheaded by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah, the Leader of Humanitarian Action.

Kuwait has a record of a long chain of humanitarian initiatives and campaigns, latest of which was declaration of huge financial allocations for the UN agency that looks after Palestinian refugees, the UNRWA.

In addition to Israeli threats against the Arab security, he also noted continuing “Iranian provocations,” targeting the nation.
