Cooperatio­n between UN-MEW concerning power and water sustainabi­lity: Al-Tayyar

KPA mulls allowances to technical employees

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6: Director of Energy Efficiency and Rationaliz­ation Department at Ministry of Electricit­y and Water Eng Iqbal Al-Tayyar revealed about the ongoing cooperatio­n between the ministry and the United Nations in terms of sustainabl­e developmen­t, reports Aljarida daily.

She indicated that the ministry recently submitted details of its successful projects concerning water and energy sustainabi­lity to a UN representa­tive including the ministry’s future projects such as the project of laboratory that will be built with highest quality to preserve water.

Eng Al-Tayyar revealed that the ministry presented details of its plans and projects related to power stations and new units as well as production ability of water and electricit­y, affirming that Kuwait is one among the countries that are concerned with sustainabi­lity of resources.

She highlighte­d the increase in electricit­y capacity in the stations by 40 percent from the year 2011 to June 2018, revealing that 5418.2MW has been added to the network through the project in Subbiya Station with increase of 2009MW in 2012, and the project in North Zour Station with increase of 307MW in 2014 as well as another project in Subbiya Station with increase of 500MW in 2015.

Kuwait Ports Authority is waiting for the approval of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to grant allowances to employees of technical specializa­tions, reports Al-Anba daily quoting reliable sources.

They revealed that these allowances includes pollution, hazard, infection and noise allowances.

The sources said the authority intends to ask Ministry of Finance concerning these allowances to ensure the budgets specified to it are reviewed.
