Architecture exhibition at the Martyr’s park
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 9, (KUNA) : AlShaheed Park witnessed on Monday the opening ceremony of an exhibition of 50 years architecture in Kuwait, organized by the Pan Arab Consulting Engineers.
PACE said in a press statement that the organization and launch of the exhibition was a celebration of its 50th anniversary, and aims to educate visitors about the stages of the development of architecture in Kuwait over the past five decades.
More than 2,000 projects have been implemented by PACE, such as AlNuwaiseeb Highway, Al-Jahra Medical City, Sabah Al Salem University’s Administrative Buildings, the new Central Bank of Kuwait and different huge projects, it added.
The opening ceremony was attended by US Ambassador to Kuwait Laurence Silverman, UK Ambassador to Kuwait Michael Davenport and other diplomats.
Ambassador Al-Otaibi participated in numerous political meetings with several key leaders, including DRC’s President Joseph Kabila, Prime Minister Bruno Tshibala and Minister of Interior and Security Henri Mova Sakanyi.
Al-Otaibi contributed in meetings of Security Council with the Independent National Electoral Commission, many female candidates and international officials.
Kuwait heads the Security Council Committee pursuant to Resolution 1533 (2004) concerning the DRC, overseeing the sanctions measures imposed by the Security Council.
Meanwhile, Minister of Oil, Electricity and Water Bakheet Al-Rasheedi has inked a contract, worth KD 9 million ($29 million), for importing original spare parts for Al-Zor power station.
A ministry statement released on Tuesday said the purchased parts would be fitted to the burners and pumps for seawaters, shifted for desalination, and distillation units.
The contract works are projected to last for 36 months as of the date of inking the deal.
Furthermore, Kuwait Port Authority (KPA) stressed on Tuesday necessity of cooperation and exchange of information among GCC countries in the field of maritime transportation to boost their economies.
On sidelines of the 26th meeting of the Gulf ports and maritime authorities’ officials, which was held today and would continue tomorrow, KPA General Manager Sheikh Yousef Abdullah Sabah Al-Nasser Al-Sabah said that there must be a representative of of the Gulf States in the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
He adds that it is necessary to establish cooperation for drafting ports’ regulations, issuing joint GCC licenses and holding ports committees meetings for exchange of information on sea transportation.
Today’s meeting is a preparation for the 22nd meeting of ministers and agents in the GCC transport and communication ministries, due in Kuwait in November.
The Training Center at the Arab Open University (AOU), in cooperation with the Training Department and the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, organized a training program entitled, “The Constitutional Law: Advanced Level,” reports Al-Qabas daily.
Dr Mohammed Al-Feeli, who conducted the training program, pointed out the scientific nature of the training which starts with the basic skills in dealing with two parts of parliamentary jurisdiction – legislation and control. He added the program also focuses on research skills needed to prepare reports wherein simulation is used on previous files or to create a default case for existing files of various topics and then utilize analysis tools.
He said the idea is to polish the skills of technical practitioners from time to time in order to re-evaluate the tools they have in terms of application to work problems.
Meanwhile, AOU Vice-President for Administrative and Financial Affairs Dr Abdullah Al-Ajmi explained the training program has a number of aspects including the mechanism for examining laws from the constitutional point of view, Amnesty Law, alternative Penal Law, cases of withdrawing membership and comprehensive practical applications.
