Kuwait wins 6 medals at Asian Para Games

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 9, (KUNA): The Kuwaiti paralympic player Ahmad Naga won a gold medal at the ongoing Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games, raising Kuwait medals to six, one gold, three silvers and two bronzes.

The head of the Kuwaiti delegation and the Secretary Kuwait Disabled Club Saad Al-Azmaa told KUNA that this remarkable achievemen­t came after Naga won first place in the 100-meter wheelchair racing.

Naga rose his personal record at this tournament to two medals, after bagging a silver one at the 800-meter wheelchair racing yesterday, Al-Azmaa said. The Kuwaiti para table tennis players Hamid Wabdan and Dhari Buti in addition to Ahmad Neqa in athletics won three silver medals, while Mohammad Mejbel and Hamad Hajji won 2 bronze medals in athletics.

Kuwaiti para table tennis player Hamid Wabdan clinched a silver medal in the singles category, while Ahmad Naqa came in second place in the 800-meter wheel chair racing contest, the Secretary of the Kuwait Disabled Club Saad Al-Azmaa told KUNA via telephone.

Dhari Bati won a silver medal in the shotput competitio­n, ahead of his compatriot Hamad Haji who trailed in third place, in addition to Mohammad Mijbil, who clinched a bronze in the mace throw challenge, he added.

He went on to say the Kuwaiti contingent is expected to add more medals to the team’s trophy cabinet as the tournament progresses, attributin­g the success to the athletes’ perseveran­ce and determinat­ion.
