Kuwait and Morocco sign deal on promoting ‘audit’ relations
Al-Manara ... first Kuwaiti institution for child, adolescent psychiatry help
RABAT, Oct 10, (KUNA): Kuwait’s State Audit Bureau (SAB) signed on Tuesday an agreement with its Moroccan counterpart that reflects a common desire to upgrade and promote relations between the two countries’ audit bodies.
The two sides agreed on backing bilateral cooperation through sharing expertise and experiments in the control action field.
Head of Morocco’s Court of Auditors Idriss Gatto lauded the important interaction of Kuwait’s institutions to recommendations and observations made by the audit bureau, mainly legislations issued by the parliament that included recommendations of control bodies.
There are similarities between the Kuwaiti and Moroccan audit works, Gatto told KUNA in a statement, stressing the need of sharing expertise and benefiting from the two different tests.
He added that independence and interaction are common elements for action environment in both Kuwait and Morocco.
He noted that his visit to SAB in 2017 showed to him how to make mutual benefits from the action mechanism in both countries.
Asked about the Kuwaiti delegation’s visit to Morocco’s Court of Auditors, Gatto said a meeting was held between the two sides which discussed means of supporting bilateral relations between the two bodies in several fields.
Meanwhile, Acting Chairman of SAB Adel Al-Sarawi said that the Moroccan control apparatus supervises the assessment of government’s public policies, referring to a Kuwaiti ambitious project to be carried out soon regarding setting up measurement criteria in collaboration and coordination with UN Development Programme.
He underlined the possibility of benefiting from Morocco’s rich experiment in environmental audit, pointing to a developed Moroccan experiment in this regard in which Kuwait has cut a long path.
Al-Sarawi touched on common challenges in sustainable development, and governance and risks, affirming that there is a common desire to exchange expertise.
On the cooperation agreement, he stressed that Kuwait is keen on cooperation with Arab control institutions, saying that that deal signed today includes a timetable for the next two years with two programs for every year.
He referred to common coordination with brothers in Morocco as partners in the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI), in addition to cooperation and coordination in activities of International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).
Gatto’s visit to Kuwait last year formed the first launch of a new phase of cooperation between the Kuwaiti and Moroccan audit institutions, Al-Saraawi pointed out.
The Kuwaiti delegation includes a number of senior officials in audit and control fields.
Al-Manara center is the first Kuwaiti institution to provide child and adolescent psychiatry help, said head of Kuwait Center for Mental Health, Dr Bibi AlAmeeri on Wedndesday.
On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, coinciding today, Dr Al-Ameeri told KUNA the Al-Manara deals with anxiety and behavioral disorders, in addition to autism cases for children and teenagers.
Established in 1955, the center went through many changes and developments, leading it to win the ‘safety star’ by the health ministry in 2016.
Al-Ameeri noted that the center receives thousands of cases each year and will continue to do so.
