Serving the elderly:
Assistant Undersecretary for Education and Training Affairs at Ministry of Interior Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah says the top leadership of Ministry of Interior is keen about giving priority to the transactions of senior citizens, due to which there are special offices in the service centers in all six governorates for facilitating the transactions of the elderly, says Al-Seyassah.
Major General AlJarrah said this during the 2nd Voluntary Work Festival that focused on serving elderly Kuwaiti citizens. The festival was held by Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Society under the patronage and in the presence of Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lieutenant General Essam Al-Naham.
Lieutenant General Al-Naham insisted that senior citizens in Kuwait deserve all kinds of welfare especially since they spent their lives serving their country.
He conveyed greetings from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lieutenant General Sheikh Khaled AlJarrah to those who serve the elderly and praised their efforts.
Major General Al-Jarrah affirmed that honoring male and female members of voluntary groups that work on facilitating the transactions of senior citizens in governmental offices is based on responsibility.
In addition, Head of the charitable society Ibrahim Al Baghli said the festival is aimed to celebrate the International Day for Elderly People, which was set by the United Nations on October 1 every year to increase awareness about issues that affect the elderly and to appreciate their contribution towards the society.
He stressed that the number of volunteers in this aspect has reached 120 of both genders who are trained to deal with elderly people and offer them psychological and social services.
