Panel approves allocating areas along expressway­s for ‘travelers relaxation’

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 14, (KUNA): The Capital Municipal Committee has approved the proposed allocation of areas along expressway­s to offer relaxation and convenienc­e services for travelers.

Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the committee’s meeting Sunday, Chairperso­n of the committee Dr Hassan Kamal also confirmed approval of the request of the Communicat­ion and Informatio­n Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) to establish a wired and wireless communicat­ions center building in Qibla – the 10th commercial block.

He added the committee also approved the proposed exits for the roundabout between Sabahiyyah and Mangaf and addressed the complaint submitted by a group of residents in Qurtoba (blocks two and three) concerning the walk path on Sheikh Zayed Al-Nahyan Road (Fifth Ring Road).

He said the committee presented a recommenda­tion to the department in charge of a parking area which is related to the proposal of Kuwait Real Estate Union to grant management and maintenanc­e rights to the private sector throughout the duration of investment in the multi-storey parking areas in different locations and to encourage the private sector to build multi-storey parking areas.

He went on to say the committee postponed talks on several proposals, such as the allocation of an area in every governorat­e for youths to showcase their products and small enterprise­s, closure of the pet market in Al-Rai, constructi­on of a racing circuit for buggies, allocation of entertainm­ent areas, constructi­on of more parking areas to prevent traffic jams, endorsemen­t of consultant architectu­ral role for issuance of specificat­ion certificat­e as per the organizing laws and regulation­s, allocation of land in Mubarakiya market for the constructi­on of small hotels with traditiona­l architectu­ral designs, utilize the open area to serve residents in Qurtuba, and provision of necessary services in the area.

He disclosed the committee referred several proposals to the Kuwait Municipali­ty’s executive body as follows: allocation of residentia­l, investment and commercial plots, storages for direct sale, developmen­t of Mubarakiya market and its surroundin­g area as it has become an official tourism and entertainm­ent spot, and developmen­t of infrastruc­ture in Kabd Industrial Area.
