-

The 20th meeting of the Customs Union in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries on Thursday recommended agreeing to complete the requirements of the Customs Union and facilitate movement of trade among member states.

Kuwait’s General Administration of Customs said in a press statement that the meeting, which ended Thursday, recommended the need to address difficulties hampering movement of trucks and trade among the member countries and follow up on field requirements for entry points and work with all sectors and international organizations.

It added that participants agreed on all topics on the meeting agenda, especially those pertinent to the issue of tasking concerned follow-up work teams to implement decisions issued by the leaders of the GCC Supreme Council on the completion of the requirements of the Customs Union.

It stressed the importance of continuing regular meetings between the GCC countries and continuous communication to narrow the gap and solve all difficulties facing the economic development process and the implementation of the unified economic agreement between GCC countries.

The two-day meeting discussed the memorandum of the General Secretariat on the implementation mechanism of the Supreme Council’s decision in its 17th consultative meeting on the completion of the requirements of the Customs Union and movement of trucks between member states.
