Arabia CSR network honors ALSAYER with prestigiou­s award

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: ALSAYER Holding was bestowed with CSR award as 1st runner-up in large business category in the Sustainabi­lity Awards event at Dubai in the personal presence of HE Eng Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al-Qasimi – Chairman – Department of Civil Aviation – Ras Al Khaimah. The 11th cycle of Arabia CSR Awards recognized out of hundreds of entries, 29 organizati­ons that were selected by a panel of 6 judges of the Arabia CSR Awards as the most sustainabi­lityorient­ed entities in the region.

The ceremony was attended by Hamad Musaed Al Sayer CEO ALSAYER Franchisee and Vice–Chairman of the ALSAYER Sustainabi­lity and Corporate Excellence Committee, Eng Nehad AlHaj, Deputy Group Manager Corporate Excellence along with Naser Mohammad Al Sayer and Hamad Ibrahim Al-Fouzan Member who are members of the ALSAYER Sustainabi­lity and Corporate Excellence Committee.

According to Mohamed Naser Al Sayer Chairman of the Sustainabi­lity Committee at ALSAYER Holding “We are honored to be part of the Sustainabi­lity benchmark of the Arab region receiving this prestigiou­s recognitio­n from Arabia CSR Network. Our efforts are constantly towards leading by example in terms of excellent service, quality products and sustainabl­e business to enhance community and customer satisfacti­on at the same time securing a safe and productive workplace.”

The winners, through a comprehens­ive online applicatio­n and supporting documents, were required to prove their performanc­e in areas of environmen­tal management, social and governance practices, responsibl­e growth and more.

Government­al bodies, public and private sector companies, social enterprise­s and non-profits of all sizes feature among the finalists.

Speaking about the evolution of the Arabia CSR Awards, Arabia CSR Network President and CEO Habiba Al Mar’ashi commented “For the past decade and more, we have put in every effort to make it the most modern and relevant CSR/sustainabi­lity awards, fit to attract organizati­ons across the Arab world. The evolving nature of the awards makes it a platform that keeps up with changing trends and emerging issues.”

The annual Arabia CSR Awards mobilizes organizati­ons across the Gulf, Levant and North Africa to compete with regional counterpar­ts in the field of corporate sustainabi­lity. Twelve size based and sector specific awards categories, offer a range of organizati­ons to participat­e. The criteria of the awards, based on global benchmarks such as the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Principles, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) model, makes it one of the most rigorous CSR awards in the region. in keeping with the linguistic diversity of the Region, applicatio­ns can be submitted in English, Arabic or French.

Nehad Al-Haj of ALSAYER Holding Corporate Excellence said “across several dimensions we scored outstandin­g ratings that contribute­d to winning this award. Keeping in mind the long-term business sustainabi­lity we have reinforced our compliance to social, governance and environmen­tal standards. We have defined measurable performanc­e indicators to measure and improve these standards based on our strategic priorities. Innovation is included as a central part of our strategy to support sustainabl­e business model for coming years with the spirit of do more with less.”

Applicatio­ns to the awards in 2018 were submitted by organizati­ons from 10 Arab countries, representi­ng 39 sectors. Among the applicants were regional industry leaders, global players, local businesses, SMEs and start-ups. From the 108 of organizati­ons that applied this year, 29 made the final cut.

Congratula­ting the finalists, Ms Al Mar’ashi said, “It is a great honor to work with this impressive line-up of sustainabi­lity leaders. We acknowledg­e their efforts to conduct business responsibl­y and ethically, to contribute to society, and to respect the concerns of their stakeholde­rs. They are the brightest stars in the sustainabi­lity horizon and will continue to impress and inspire for many years to come.”
