‘Region alert to divisive forces’

‘Imperialism in losing Mideast battle’

-

“SINCE the beginning of the 1960s following the emergence of the new conservatives, America began working seriously to succeed the old imperialism in the Middles East region,” columnist

wrote for daily. “However, at the outset of the US plan in this regard began with the so-called Rogers Projects to the vacuum in the Middle East and other scenarios that followed this project. However, the current US project is represented by the so-called ‘Deal of the Century’ which falls within Washington’s plan in question.

“Because America is a superpower with a huge military might, it is capable of acquiring military gains needed to serve its political schemes. However, what has been observed of late is that it is losing its military gains because of political mismanagement and this can be attributed to the fact that America does not take into consideration the situations and circumstances of the people who try to colonize them and introduces itself as an alternative to old imperialism.

“However, the old colonialists have not left the countries which they had colonized of their free will but rather they were forced to leave because of the persistent struggles among their peoples as well as to the latter’s desire to enjoy the freedom and independence and freely manage their own affairs.

“Such being the case, these peoples and the concerned countries rapidly detected the mistakes in the American policy and mismanagement in dealing with them as well as in dealing with their own affairs and this could be attributed to the arrogance and egoism to blackmail their wealth by depending only on its might and domination.

“However, this American manner reminded those peoples of the misdealing rule of the old imperialism more imprudently and through carelessness shown towards these people’s dignity and interests.

“Given the above, these people worked sincerely to get rid of the political and military influence of the US and this is what exactly happened in Pakistan, Iraq and Turkey.

“We say the above although we confess America succeeded in planting its military bases in many countries throughout the world, but it is needless to say persistent current US policy and dealing with these states, shall not enable it to stay for a long time in these countries because it is obvious this manner of treatment is not in favor of these peoples, particularly since we know that its carelessness and arrogance in dealing with these peoples is no longer a secret as we know that such behavior leads to blackmailing.

“In other words, it is America whose behavior in the relevant countries runs contrary to its slogans which speak of protector of freedom and democracy. Moreover, all scenarios prepared by Washington to legalize its presence in the relevant countries exposes its bad intentions.

“At the moment it is obvious that America is keen to work steadily to achieve the Zionist dreams of dismantling the Middle East region and eradicating the identity of this region but the price will be paid by the peoples in this part of the world.

“In this connection, we say it is America which is currently striving to build railways and highways stretching from Tel Aviv to the Arab Sea via Gulf states to support its military base in the region when the need arises.

“Anyway, the peoples of the region are currently aware and are not ready to accept the imperialistic domination, hence, whatever the strength of American military might, it will not be in a position to impose itself by force for a long time through confrontation among the persecuted peoples.”

“America is a superpower and boasts of the most distinguished position among the states. It is an awful power even without using the ‘Veto’ power (in the United Nations Security Council). Moreover, it is in the forefront when it comes to everything including education, the military industry, technologies and modern sciences,” columnist wrote for daily.

“In this context, we say – God forbid – if any of your relatives are exposed to a dangerous disease, the first thing that comes to your mind is to send him/her to the United States for medical treatment motivated by your conviction of correct diagnosis, necessary medical treatment and specialists that are available there.

“Not only that, we have observed that most young Arabs are looking forward to study in the United States universities because of Washington’s scientific progress and best universities found there.

“Meanwhile, we would like to say here that the US State Department’s program called “The International Visitor” was set up more than 75 years ago to be exact in 1940 to enable the visitors to familiarize themselves with the nature of the cultural and political affects in the American life.

“Not just that, those who are responsible for this program are striving to introduce the program in complete transparency by showing the privileges and the shortcomings that exist in the US institutions.

“However, this program attracts as many as 4,500 participants every year and the cost is borne by the US State Department. In this context, we say a number of prominent people had joined this program including the former Turkish president Abdullah Gul, the former French president Nicolas Sarkozy and the former Afghanistan president Hamed Karzai.

“However, we must keep in mind that America is the state of institutions and even the president of the United States cannot violate the rules and regulations of these institutions.”

“The call to question those responsible for the construction errors in infrastructure projects, which were exposed by the recent heavy rains in the country, has a greater impact than the formation of a fact-finding committee or the dismissal of a few officials,”

wrote for daily. “Following up the level of monitoring of the Parliament, we can see that they are limited to questions related to general issues. The answers of the ministers are often jellylike, due to which this mechanism is not effective. Even the reports prepared by the factfinding committees remain frozen.

“An effective way of questioning must not be selective, temporary or retaliatory but it should be based on the law and controlled by definite procedures. It should also be enforced neutrally. Of course, such a task cannot be achieved unless the assigned body has complete independence. The members of such a body must be chosen well after ensuring they possess the required qualifications including legal and administrative knowledge and neutrality. They must also be aware of the technical details of the body that is subjected to monitoring.

“The monitoring body must be authorized to obtain necessary information and receive answers to the questions presented for accomplishing the specific task. When the government issues a decision that includes punishment, it should be justified and must include the reasons for issuing the punishment. The public must be informed about the reasons behind the issuance of penalizing decisions.

“Advanced countries take other procedures to nip corruption in the bud such as imposing strict criteria for the appointment of senior officials. They are required to be honest and efficient, and they should not be appointed on the basis of favoritism. Evil comes when inefficient employees are appointed in sensitive positions.”

“The rainy weather conditions last week, which halted activities in the government and private sectors for two days, revealed the poor infrastructure, especially the roads and drainage system,” columnist

wrote for daily. “Generally, every concerned agency exerted effort to perform their duties and roles in such weather conditions, particularly the civil defense which usually plays its role under such circumstances. This is not to brag or show off to the people of this country. However, the main stars in terms of follow up were HH the Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and agencies which had ideal presence for two consecutive days.

“Nonetheless, it was the first time we saw every concerned official – ministers, governors, directors general and undersecretaries – rushing to appear on the media to prove that they performed their duties, especially after the decisive step taken by HH the Prime Minister to refer several officials for retirement. Obviously, retirement does not solve the issue but it was a step forward and in the right direction.

“Therefore, those who performed their roles and duties diligently were praised by HH the Prime Minister and the participating agencies were promised something good for their role. I am saying it out loud that the one who deserves something good for excellent work is HH the Prime Minister, because if it were not for his presence throughout this natural phenomenon, we would not have seen concerned officials in the frontline like what happened during the first wave of rains a fortnight ago.”

“For the first time, the government has revealed the names of the contractors, consultancy offices and supervisors who are responsible for the flood disaster. We hope this will be followed by another list with names of engineers and officials who received the projects from the contractors with the impression that they were complete when they really were not,”

wrote for daily. “Sabah Al-Ahmad City project is not more than two years old but its infrastructure has collapsed. In comparison, some areas in Kuwait have existed for more than eighty years and still remain solid. At that time, there was no cheating, stealing and bribery. Publishing one list of culprits now and rest later is a welcome development.

“It is more important that they should not be left off the hook. The government should take them to court to ensure they bear the cost of fixing the infrastructure and pay compensations to the affected people. However, if the case is swept under the carpet and the culprits are not blacklisted, then we are not safe from another disaster. This is because they can register new companies under the names of their children and wives or the engineering offices under the names of relatives.”

“The state has opened the door for citizens and residents to apply for compensation for the damages they sustained due to the heavy rains in the country. However, people who have been affected will be preceded by the forgers and others,” wrote for daily.

“It was recently seen in social media that a resident caused the intentional sinking of his car in order to claim for compensation.

“Favoritism and nepotism as well as interference and pressures from the members of the National Assembly will dominate the process of compensation for their own interests and the interests of their constituencies. The committees will deviate from their main goals, ultimately compensating those who do not deserve compensation and denying the deserved.

“This is what will happen if the compensation committees do not handle the situation responsibly. All of this is dependent on the good selection of committee members. Our past experiences do not bode well.”

“The Kuwaiti Cabinet did well when it decided to exclude engineering companies and offices that designed and implemented housing, infrastructure and road projects which witnessed the flying gravel phenomenon and were damaged due to heavy rains,” columnist wrote for daily.

“The actual decision does not allow these companies and offices to participate in upcoming projects unless they are cleared by the fact-finding committee formed for this purpose. Citizens are now tired of problems caused by contractors who have no sense of responsibility. The time has come to subject such contractors to strict accountability without any room for tolerance.

“Therefore, we hope HH the Prime Minister will issue a directive to immediately solve the problems such as roads damaged by flying gravel which also broke the windows of the cars of citizens and expatriates, especially those plying through the highways.”

“The world has changed ever since the social media surfaced and information started to spread each second,”

wrote for daily. “The technology revolution has contributed to human development and increased the rate of scientific research and multiplied new medical and technological inventions. This landmark has led to ease of communication among people and students of the diaspora with their relatives in their various home countries, as they make use of advanced and latest communication applications that enable them to send voice or text messages and direct calls via social media.

“On the other hand, some social media users have abused the right form of usage by attacking others and spreading rumors or fake information.”
