KUWAIT CITY, Nov 24, (KUNA): Kuwait Audit Bureau, in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (SCPD), is finalizing a special program to help internal audit departments in governmental bodies to enhance their capabilities.
Last June, a contract was signed with a global office specialized in internal auditing in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program,to help in processing the program, said project Team Leader Esam AlRoumi, from the Audit Bureau, in a press statement.
In coordination with 35 governmental entities, the project is running through three stages, the first is to diagnose defects in the performance of internal auditing systems and ways to tackle them, Al-Roumi added.
The second depends on employing auditors from the Audit Bureau in the governmental bodies to enable their employees follow up on latest auditing standards in this regard, he noted.
The third stage envisages training 300 employees and rehabilitating 40 others to benefit from their experience in teaching the Audit Bureau staff and employees of the internal audit units in the supervised entities.
Al-Roumi confirmed the completion of the first stage through coordination between the Audit Bureau and a global office.
