Jaber Al-Ahmad School ‘marks’ Independence Day of Lebanon
BEIRUT, Nov 24 (KUNA): Lebanese Minister of Education and Higher Education Marwan Hamadeh on Friday expressed gratitude for the support offered to his country by the State of Kuwait.
“The leaders and people of sisterly Kuwait offered essential support to Lebanon in such areas as education, economy, infrastructure, healthcare and tourism,” he told KUNA.
The minister made the comments on the fringes of a celebration held by Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah School to mark the 57th Independence Day of Lebanon, which falls on Nov 22.
“The school is one of numerous edifices across Lebanon that have the hallmarks of dear Kuwait in the educational and other sectors in Lebanon,” Hamadeh said.
“The Kuwaiti assistance has never been attached to any conditions or something in return whatsoever. Kuwait has never sought to interfere in the internal affairs of Lebanon. To the contrary, Kuwait contributed in all honesty to solving many problems in Lebanon,” he pointed out.
Meanwhile, Kuwait Consul in Lebanon Fawaz Al-Gahtani, who attended the celebration on behalf of the ambassador reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to support the brotherly people of Lebanon
“Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad School stands for Kuwait’s contributions to economic and human development in Lebanon and other Arab countries,” he said.
On her part, the school’s principal Ghada Azar renewed gratitude to Kuwait for building the school which serves more than 500 students from the primary stage to the secondary stage.
