Freeze on 1080 Education jobs
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 4: The Ministry of Education has frozen 1,080 jobs occupied by expatriates for fiscal 2018/2019, reports quoting a reliable source from the educational sector.
The source revealed the decision covers 600 expatriate support staff assigned in Farwaniya Educational District whose contracts will be terminated this year. He said the contracts will not be renewed and the workers’ replacements will be hired through the relevant companies as it has been done in other educational districts.
The source pointed out the number of expatriate employees in the ministry decreased in the current fiscal year compared to the previous year when the number exceeded 1,500.
He disclosed the ministry has the highest Kuwaitization rate among ministries and other public institutions – 95 percent. He added all administrative jobs are frozen for years in favor of national manpower, except teachers with rare fields of specialization.
In other news, the Students Society of Professional Petroleum Engineering at the College of Engineering and Petroleum in Kuwait University recently invited the former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company
(KUFPEC) and Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) Hassania Hashim to deliver a lecture on “Professional Life after Studies”.
According to a press release, the lecture covered three different segments. One of the segments focused on the oil sector particularly the oil industry in Kuwait.
The second segment was concerning guidelines for students before and after graduation in a way that can enhance successful professional life.
The third segment summarized role of the International Society of Petroleum Engineers in developing and training members as well as in Kuwait and international oil industries.
