Kuwait supports joint Arab act to ‘safeguard’ interests
Saudi King congratulated on 4th ascendency ’versary
The Arab parliamentary committee meeting in Cairo. CAIRO, Egypt, Dec 9, (KUNA): The National Assembly’s Head of Foreign Affairs Abdulkarim Al-Kandari said on Saturday Kuwait is committed to ensuring that the outcomes of joint Arab action are reached, including freezing the Knesset’s InterParliamentary Union membership.
Speaking at Arab parliamentary political committee meeting at the Arab League headquarters, the Kuwaiti lawmaker was optimistic about a report released at the talks detailing the region’s political state of affairs this year.
The document highlights several positive developments illustrating the need to continue backing precursors for improvement.
As examples, Al-Kandari mentioned support of the stability of Iraq and the political process in Libya.
In spite of this, he said the document was “weighed down” by challenges, including those ongoing internally, as well as others on a regional and global scale.
These challenges, the lawmaker described as “greed, threats and foreign interference in Arab affairs.”
The most fundamental of these is the “continuously bleeding wound” of Palestine, he said, vowing that the people and Parliament of Kuwait would not overlook this matter under any circumstances.
The recent US decision to relocate its embassy to Jerusalem has taken the situation to a “dangerous curve” that threatens to destroy all peace efforts that may eventually lead to Palestinian statehood, he suggested.
The Kuwaiti Parliament will continue doing all in its power and use its influence to banish Israel from international organisations and expose the brutal Zionist actions against Palestinians, he vowed.
This comes after Kuwaiti lawmakers recently oversaw the preparation of legal steps to freeze the Knesset’s Inter-Parliamentary Union membership.
Kuwait’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has congratulated Saudi Arabia on the occasion of the four-year anniversary of the ascendency of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
The warm sentiments were expressed in a press statement addressed on Saturday to King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Mohammad bin Salman and the Saudi people.
The ambassador wished the Kingdom prosperity and further accomplishments, underlining that bilateral relations would remain a model for transparent and devoted brotherly companionship and fruitful cooperation under the two countries’ wise leaderships.
