KUWAIT CITY, Dec 10, (KUNA): Kuwaiti Minister of Finance Dr Nayef Al-Hajraf said on Monday it is imperative for the society to revise its negative attitude towards the retirees, and to draw upon their experience and skills instead.

The minister made the remark while giving a keynote speech during a national conference on retirees, on behalf of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the sponsor of the event.

The conference seeks to attain a set of social and developmental goals by means of re-appointing retirees and capitalizing on their experience and capabilities, he said.

It comes at a time when both legislative and executive authorities are putting the final touches on amendments to the social security law, eventually serving this category of society, the minister added.

After months of dialogue between the government and members of Parliament, changes to the law in question have been granted by both sides, Al-Hajraf added.

The National Assembly is set to convene on Tuesday in order to weigh the revised act, he pointed out.

Kuwaiti MP and Member of the Economic and Financial Committee of the Arab Parliament Khaled Al-0taibi said on Monday Kuwait is eager to back joint Arab action in all fields.

On the sidelines of the committee’s final session, Al-Otaibi stated to KUNA: “Kuwait has always been a pioneer in taking actions to enhance the joint Arab action in social, economic, political, and other fields.”

“Kuwait’s foreign policy has always worked for spreading peace and security and guarantee stable economic status among Arab societies,” Al-Otaibi noted.

During the meeting, they discussed the financial status of the Arab Parliament until last October and commitment of member states to pay their contributions to the 2018 budget.

They also discussed a report presented by a subcommittee suggesting a proposed law to attract Arab investments and capital inside the Arab world instead of sending them out, beside another report about food security.

Al-Otaibi stressed the importance of reviewing laws that have been expelling capital from Arab countries, calling for facilitating them to attract these funds and operate them inside Arab countries.

The permanent committees of the Arab Parliament were held on Monday in their news composition to discuss subjects that contribute to the joint Arabic action.
