‘Overcome inter-Gulf disputes’

‘Boost unity for people’s progress’

- — Compiled by Zaki Taleb

“IN HIS speech at the inaugural ceremony of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Supreme Council’s summit that had been held last week in the Saudi capital Al-Riyadh city, the head of the Sultanate of Oman delegation Sheikh Fahd Bin Mahmoud Al-Saeed said ‘the speech of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad embodies the reality and constitutes an example to be followed in terms of GCC action ,’” columnist Abdulmohsen Mohammad Al-Husseini wrote for Al-Anba daily.

“The above is what had been said by the head of The Sultanate of Oman delegation, as if he would like to emphasize the content of His Highness the Amir speech in which he said before the GCC leaders or their representatives ‘the persistence of the inter-Gulf conflict shall expose the interests of region’s children to squandering’.

“In the meantime, HH the Amir said, ‘As such media campaigns which touch our values and sow the seeds of sedition must be stopped’. Likewise, His Highness referred to the dangerous challenges currently facing our Gulf states, describing them as upsetting and this entails that we have to boost our joint action to support our march’.

“I think that most dangerous challenge which is currently facing the GCC states, could be represented by such a conflict which is currently threatening our entity. Hence, we saw how the Amir, hinted to the perilous situation which our Gulf countries are currently exposed to, saying the conflict constitutes a dangerous threat against the unity of the member states and this shall expose our interests to loss, adding that this shall result in the world not trusting our attitudes.

“The above, was said by His Highness the Amir which actually reflects his big resentment against the bad situations through which the GCC countries are passing. Hence, Sheikh Fahd Al-Saeed in turn, has confirmed that ‘the speech of His Highness the Amir constitutes the light that shall guide our work in the Gulf Cooperation Council member states’.

“Apart from the above, the Omani official further called on the GCC members’ states to work to end the conflict among the concerned GCC states to enable the latter to confront the perils which currently impede the GCC march and achieve more unified attitudes in favor of the Council’s member states.

“As a matter of fact, anyone who may follow the events of the GCC Al-Riyadh summit, will observe that the member states were attaching hope on this summit to make progress and promote unity among member states and eventually get rid of all the differences currently impeding the unity of the GCC action.

“Notwithstanding, the peoples of the Gulf are currently very dissatisfied at such a difference between three GCC members and the fourth outside Council (Egypt), hence, these people are looking forward to see the relations among the GCC members to blossom like the relations among the European Union (EU) member states, particularly in terms of freedom among the latter without any obstacles where the citizens are not affected by various political attitudes of the EU member states.

“There is no doubt, that we are in need of awareness to realize the interests of our peoples and not expose the resolutions that have previously been taken by the GCC calling for boosting unity among the member states topped by the resolution allowing the GCC citizens to move between each other’s states on the strength of ID cards, given the fact this resolution has nullified all old procedures.

“Anyway, we hope the Gulf/Gulf differences which had affected the aspiration of the peoples of the member states, will be surmounted in order to enable the Council to go ahead in terms of adopting more unified resolutions for the good of the GCC peoples.

“In this context, we cite what was said by His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah (Jaber of Goodness), – we pray to Allah the Almighty to rest his soul in peace – ‘the deep belief of the State of Kuwait in the joint interest of the Arab nation as well as in the Islamic fraternity and in the peace based on justice and on the friendship and reciprocal respect, which represent the basis and the objective of the Kuwaiti politics it terms of building the relationship with the other states’.

“We pray to Almighty Allah to help us.”

Also:

“The Omani Deputy Prime Minister Fahd AlSaeed, was right when he called the speech of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad delivered at the recent Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit as ‘self-explanatory and as such we must deal with it as an example to be followed while performing our GCC action,’” columnist Faleh Ben Hajri wrote for Al-Jarida daily.

“Here we would like to comment that if the millions of the GCC peoples, were given the chance in this connection, they will say the same what has been said by the esquire Azdi minister (the Omani minister), because the speech of HH the Amir actually reflected all issues which exist in the minds of those who love this historical entity (GCC) which has unified the Arabian Gulf and mobilized the member states in a crucible of an organization that was steadfast throughout many years and up to the recent crisis.

“This crisis, has actually shed its darkness on a bright Sabah (morning) and the latter found nobody except the man who is holding the same name His Highness the Amir to defend this morning and protect it from the darkness of divisions and disunion.

“In his speech at the GCC summit, we saw how the politics represents nothing strange for the dean of the Arab diplomacy and this was evident when His Highness, reminded his brothers during the summit about the situations which currently prevail in our region in addition to the dangerous challenges currently facing this part of the world in addition to his attempts to bring unity to the Gulf entity and give boost to the member states joint action and sort out the differences among these states.

“Moreover, His Highness through his farsightedness concentrated on such a point indicating that the current differences among the relevant GCC member states, shall result in the world dealing with us an entity suffering from instability and as such the interests of this entity will no longer enjoy the necessary guarantees that could be provided through unity of our attitude as well as through the coherence of our entity.

“Thus, the politics was indeed strongly present in His Highness the Amir speech and this resulted in this speech touching on the emotions of all citizens of the GCC member states, because His Highness, was talking through a fatherly manner and true emotions about the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) itself.”

“Those who think that pressure tactics, threats will close this file are ignorant of the ability of those who look at the file of bedoun from a security perspective in the era of openness, globalization, investment in the human resources, and the shortsightedness of those who try to reduce to nothing respect for bedoun in terms of the principles of human rights,” columnist, Professor at Kuwait University’s Political Science Department and former MP Dr Hassan Jowhar wrote for Al-Jaridah daily Tuesday.

“Has the Bedoun issue reached an impasse? This was the title of a public symposium in which former MP Ahmad Al-Saadoun took part at the Association of Faculty Members at the premises of Shuwaikh Campus.

“Uncle “Bu Abdulaziz” talked about this subject and this is undoubtedly a great enrichment not only for the symbol of the man and his national credibility, but also about the Nationality Law and its amendments, as well as its database, which are usually used by ‘Bouaziz’ as evidence derived from official government figures and reports.

“The Bedoun case, its suffering and grievances, have receded as a result of the political circumstances experienced by Kuwait over the past years. Due to the legal pressure and prosecution mechanisms used by the government to silence voices of dissent and this also includes young people who belong to this disadvantaged group.

“The parliamentary initiatives and the movement of civil society organizations, as well as political and social figures have contributed effectively over the past two decades to solve the problems of thousands of families, young and old, men and women.

“The security situation was the basis and the focus of dealing with the issue, to return the atmosphere of persecution and deprivation to the extent we witnessed in the last few days which included fabrication of the charges of terrorism.

“We hope that the sincere people including politicians in this country, media personalities, media activists, social media activists and civil society organizations will revive this issue. We must say it clearly and boldly, ‘yes’ to objectivity and fairness to those who deserve and support the oppressed people of this segment, so loud that they do not feel that they are immune to criticism and accountability.”

“God showered Kuwait with many blessings, foremost of which is its leader and captain – HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. This man recorded all measures and standards in loyal work for his country and the prosperity of his people, as well as promotion of peace in the region and the world by providing assistance to struggling and troubled people,” columnist Abdulrahman Al-Awwad wrote for Al-Sabah daily.

“His Highness headed Kuwait’s delegation in the Gulf Summit, during which he presented his ideas that touched hearts. He was frank in expressing the need to put the Gulf House back to where it was before when cooperation and solidarity reigned, in order to face the factors which led to dispute in the GCC.

“HH the Amir spoke frankly and transparently. He dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s in rebuilding the Gulf House. He did not use the language of diplomacy in saying what was in his mind and he did not give hints. He expressed frankly what is in the minds of all Gulf people regarding the concern that affected the future of the GCC when its entity was shaken, warning against disregarding the interests of our people.”

“The colonial ideology in the world changed many times over time until we reached where we are now, in terms of proxy wars, proxy occupation, proxy revolutions, political breakthroughs, cultural and media orientations, economic extortion, imaginary enemy industry, inciting the populace against governments, preoccupying citizens with means of livelihood, impoverished masses, and enriching the rich,” Dr Esam Abdul-Latif Al-Fulaij wrote for Al-Anba daily.

“The Cold War ended between the two poles of the world, America and Russia, because it occupied them with the most important issue, as the two German nations came together and Sino-US economic relations was solidified and political differences frozen. North Korea’s threats to America came to a halt, while interKorean relationship gradually returned. Vietnam took its place. Japan became devoted to science and technology. The Soviet Union disintegrated to relieve Moscow of a large political, economic and military burden. The merged Eastern European countries (Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia) have been transformed into a map of new countries and a new flag added to the United Nations.

“Of course, many Islamic countries emerged from this scenario. I called them Islamic, because the majority of citizens of those countries are Muslims but not necessarily that the countries implement Islamic principles. They can be regarded as secular or socialist, citing the Central Asian countries and Eastern Europe. This makes it easier to identify and neutralize countries that protect them and render them weaker than they were in the past- especially as one of the most important requirements of independence is not to write in the Constitution that “religion of the state is Islam”, but a secular state or less civil.

“This disintegration and integration is one of the stages of the New World Map, which is renewed by colonialism at times, sometimes with independence, revolutions or coups at other times. These methods are still in place, and the loser is the weak states, the military states, the politically naive states, and so on. The attempts to impose the “map of the new Middle East” are still in place in order to achieve security of the people of Zion who set the two rivers as the borders of their country. It began with the eruptions of the “Arab Spring”, which penetrated people in good faith with the hope of a better situation for them socially, religiously, culturally and intellectually, so they took their painful past to a more painful present. The last attempt was the failed Fascist coup d’état in Turkey whose story is known to all.

“Perhaps, it is an opportunity to recall the blessing of security and safety that many people live. Other people are missing (the examples of Levant, Palestine and Yemen). Thanks to Allah the Almighty who put us in a safe country against political and security penetration. We should not be behind political slogans that are quickly abandoned by those who supported them. Every human being has to govern the mind in order not be dragged behind emotion, media and social communication. How do you feel when I see someone accusing the Islamic sects, insulting the Salafists, betraying the media, Wahabism, and responding to provoke sedition between Sunnis and Shiites, urban and nomads, liberals and Islamists, and between the ruler and the ruled (especially in the Gulf States)- because everyone is the loser while the gains belong to brains behind the plans for all of this.

“We have to warn against political, security and media maneuvers to avoid being a summit for the planners of the new Middle East map to unite ranks. We should not to succumb to rumors and many more. I pray that Allah the Almighty protects our country, the Muslim countries and humanity from evil.”
