Kuwait National English School holds debate competition

-

Debating is an important part of school learning and is integral to the development of student’s ability to argue in an orderly and civilized manner on a wide range of topics. At KNES we give priority to this activity as a way of inculcating in students the art of controlled and organized exchange of viewpoints. With this in mind a debate was organized on the 6th of February 2019 between year 11 students and the topic was “What men can do women can do better”. The teams

Photos from the event went for each other and it was 1 hour of enthralling arguments and counter-arguments that kept the audience on their feet with huge applause for the speakers. Team Affirmative consisted of witty Aringdom, Feisty Fouz and the composed Mohammed Mohaini. Team Negative had the aggressive Aivee, Crisp and methodical Iqra rounded up by fantastic Bader.

The event was ably anchored by school head boy Ibrahim Al Hadiya. The debate was adjudi- cated by Michael and Kishen who had a difficult job deciding the winners. Eventually on content and delivery the debate was awarded to team Negative (Bader, Iqra and Aivee). Pouya Masjedi from year 11 did a great job as time-keeper.

The school Director Madame Chantal Al Gharabally gave out the trophy to the winning team as well as medals to all debaters. All in all the debate was a positive influence on the students and we look forward to more such events in the future.
