Reliable sources from the ministry disclosed that the highest number of those demanding for divorce fall under the category of university graduates while the lowest are those with intermediate certificates.
Sources warned about the rising divorce rate in the country, announcing that a governmental step will be taken to address the issue. Sources said a joint governmental committee will be formed soon including representatives from the ministries of Justice, Education, Awqaf and Information; in addition to local universities and non-government organizations (NGOs) to look for solutions to the problem.
Minister of Justice Dr Fahad Al-Afasi has issued a decision recently to establish a society for judicial members, reports Aljarida daily.
According to sources, members of the judicial authority had been waiting for years for such a decision.
The society will be affiliated to the Undersecretary of Ministry of Justice, and the decision will be activated immediately after it is approved by the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
The ministerial decision includes establishment of a department to take charge of the tasks and activities of the society. This department will organize social and cultural activities for the members of the society such as entertainment outings, Hajj and Umrah caravans, as well as subscription in foreign exhibitions and issuance of membership cards.
