MPs aim to discuss grillings on Saturday
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 7: A number of MPs are working on mobilizing support to stop the legislative agenda of the National Assembly from stumbling as a result of the interpellations expected during the next session, reports Annahar daily.
According to a parliamentary source, most of the MPs are certain that there will be a flood of interpellations directed at the ministers in the next round due to which there is a preliminary agreement among a few to use Saturday for discussing the interpellations.
He said, “The process requires that we form a lobby to vote on discussing the interpellations on Saturday and in coordination with the government as a number representing majority of the MPs to be the master of its decisions in this regard. But taking the matter as a principle and work depends on the approval of the government and its political calculations”.
The source revealed that Saturday was chosen in order to avoid interruptions in the work of members of parliamentary and ministerial committees during the week, and that Saturday is an easy day for all MPs and ministers to adhere to it.
On the other hand, the Legislative Committee continues its meetings to discuss the constitutionality of the interpellation submitted against His Highness the Prime Minister by MP Abdul Kareem Al-Kandari. It will also complete discussions to amend the law organizing the judiciary in order to strengthen its independence and widen the circle of litigation.
