Ambassador hails close ties between ‘Kuwait and Nepal’

Health minister to take part in Chinese-Arab forum

NEW DELHI, Aug 13, (KUNA): Kuwait Ambassador to India Jassem Al-Najem presented his credential­s as a non-resident Ambassador to President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari.

During the meeting, Al-Najem’s conveyed greetings from His Highness the Amir to the Nepalese President, said the Kuwaiti Embassy in New Delhi in a statement obtained by KUNA Tuesday. The ambassador praised the close relations between Kuwait and Nepal and also hailed the warm ties in several fields, including trade and cultural exchange.

He commended the role of the Kuwait Fund for Developmen­t in enhancing the relationsh­ip through soft loans given to the Himalayan nation since 1977.

For her part, the President Bidya Devi Bhandari asked Ambassador Al-Najem to convey her greetings to His Highness the Amir and praised current level of relations and its steady developmen­t between the two friendly countries, it added.

She lauded the hospitalit­y and good living condition enjoyed by Nepalese people working in Kuwait and their contributi­on to the national developmen­t and economic growth.

Relations

The Nepalese president expressed her wish to see the current relations enhanced further in political, economic and social sectors.

She further commended the strong relations with Kuwait, saying that such was evident in the visit of former Nepalese president Dr Ram Baran Yadav to Kuwait in February 2011 during Kuwait’s celebratio­ns of the Golden Jubilee of independen­ce.

Meanwhile, Minister of Health Dr Basel Al-Humoud Al-Sabah will take part in the second meeting of the Chinese-Arab health forum from August 16 to 18 in Beijing, said a Kuwaiti diplomat Sunday.

The meeting of Chinese and Arab health ministers and representa­tives will see the launch of the “Beijing declaratio­n 2019” on health cooperatio­n, Kuwaiti Ambassador to China Sameeh Hayat told KUNA

The meeting will also discuss cooperatio­n in traditiona­l medicine, hospital administra­tion, health industries and improving the field of general health, he said.

Meanwhile, Hayat noted that senior Kuwaiti and Chinese delegation­s have been exchanging official visits to boost cooperatio­n on different levels.

He added that the historic visit of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to China in July 2018, had prominentl­y developed the Kuwaiti-Chinese cooperatio­n and relations.

His Highness the Amir’s visit was followed by visits of senior Kuwaiti officials to China, including First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the ambassador added.
