KUWAIT CITY, Aug 13: The Director of Juvenile Welfare Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs Hamad Al-Khaldi says the Department plays a rehabilitative, supervisory and social role for inmates under the age of 18 years, reports Al-Anba daily.

He noted, the number of inmates at the moment stands at 65 cases – women and men – distributed among several departments, including hospitality for boys and girls and social welfare.

Al-Khaldi said a juvenile is sent to what he called the observation house through a court to correct his/ her behavior and mold him/her into a good citizen.

He explained the administration provides the ‘inmate’ with all facilities such as food, clothing, education and vocational rehabilitation in order to hone their abilities before allowing them to mix in the community.

The issue of retirees remains current in the parliamentary arena in all aspects, which makes it the center of attention - even during the parliamentary recess, reports Al-Anba daily.

In this context, MP Saad AlKhanfour noted that all segments of society should not be overlooked but retirees should be given special attention by the government and the parliament due to the meritorious services they have rendered to Kuwait and its people.

Al-Khanfour added: We have already proposed a law to grant them interest-free loans through the Public Institution for Social Security, stressing that this issue will be a priority during the next session. He added, “We will conduct broad parliamentary consultations and coordination to put this issue on the priorities item for the next round in order to be fair to them.
